Payment Account

We offer opening a payment account at a post office to receive financial services required by your company.


A payment account at a post office provides your company with an easy, safe and convenient way to:

  • make transactions to legal entities' and individuals' accounts in post offices and credit institutions both in Latvia and abroad.
  • deposit cash and withdraw it from your account
  • pay bills for rent, utilities and other services


In order to open an account, submit the following articles at a post office:

  • original and copy of the registration certificate of the company
  • original and copy of the tax payer's certificate, in case the company is not registered in the commercial register
  • original of a statement issued by the Register of Enterprises, listing the signatories of the company (the statement is valid for 30 days after the date of issue);
  • passports and IDs of signatories of the company and copies of these documents.
  • application for opening a PSS current account for a legal entity (PNS-002);
  • two signature sample cards for a legal entity (PNS-003);
  • customer's questionnaire.

The representative of the legal entity taking the documents to the post office must present his/her passport or ID.

A payment account is opened within 5 business days after the receipt of the documents. 

For your convenience, we offer using payment account services in several post offices. Select the post offices required and list them in an application to the post office, in which your company's payment account is opened.

In accordance with the requirements of the laws and regulations, it is banks and financial institutions’ responsibility to aggregate the information about their clients on a regular basis. SJSC “Latvijas Pasts”, which maintains the postal settlement system (PSS), shall be regarded as a financial institution for the purposes of the said law.

On 29 February 2016, the amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing became effective thus changing the definition of a politically exposed person. Consequently, all banks and financial institutions are responsible for determining which clients and clients’ true beneficiaries are to be regarded as politically exposed persons.

Therefore we kindly request all PSS account holders to complete the client’s questionnaire! The client’s questionnaire can be completed in the post office at postal officer’s request or it can be downloaded here and after the completion should be submitted to the post office. In accordance with the requirements of the effective legislation, the said questionnaires shall be completed by 31 December 2016.
