A special gathering of Latvian postcard senders is to take place in celebration of World Post Day

Organising such gatherings that bring together Latvian postcard senders and promote the uniqueness of these items, is one of the traditions of Latvijas Pasts. In today’s world, where people’s daily habits have undergone considerable transformation, handwritten postcards hold a special significance. Similar to stamps, they convey symbolic messages that resonate with individuals across the globe.
As this year marks the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Universal Postal Union, every attendee of the event will receive special gifts: a stamp designed to celebrate this milestone, which can also be cancelled on-site, along with a postcard intended for sharing with fellow postcard enthusiasts.
Those present will have the chance to explore the inner workings of Latvijas Pasts and visit the Sorting Centre, while Roberts Rūrāns will share his experiences in the world of illustrations.
The event for postcard senders and members of the international Postcrossing movement will take place in the main building of Latvijas Pasts at 10 Ziemelu Street, Riga International Airport, Marupe Municipality. Postcard sending enthusiasts are invited to sign up for participation in the event until the 1st of October by writing to the e-mail address: pr@pasts.lv.
