Postal carriers now take payments by card

In order to make postal and payment services equally easily accessible to residents outside major cities and regional centres, Latvijas Pasts is offering the Postal Carrier at Home service. This is a convenient way to receive the services provided by the company at your place of residence without having to travel to the post office. Moreover, from February, postal carriers accept from customers contactless card payments.

Last year, using the Postal Carrier at Home service, on average Latvijas Pasts customers made about 18,500 transactions a month. Home visits by postal carriers were most commonly requested in the Latgale region, accounting for about 40% of cases, followed by Kurzeme (25%), Vidzeme and Zemgale (around 17% each). During the second half of the year, demand for this service was highest in the municipalities of Krāslava, Madona, Alūksne, Gulbene, Jēkabpils, Dienvidkurzeme and Talsi. The most popular services were bill payments and, toward the end of the year, press subscriptions.

To improve service availability, Latvijas Pasts has expanded its functionality. Starting in February, customers can also pay postal carriers for services using a contactless payment card. This solution is provided in cooperation with Citadele Bank and Samsung Electronics

Initially, 387 postal carriers will accept contactless card payments for services in different regions of Latvia, where demand for non-cash payments has been highest so far. Contactless card payments will be processed through the mobile app provided to postal carriers.

As a result, making payments for services will also be more convenient for Latvijas Pasts Visa cardholders. Additionally, the functionality of the Latvijas Pasts Pay app is enhanced, allowing users to easily pay bills, along with the options already available.

Customers who have a Postal Payment System (PPS) account can apply for the Latvijas Pasts payment card at post offices, through postal carriers or online at www.pasts.lv. Additionally, the card processing fee has been reduced to EUR 1.99 until the end of April.

Customers who have not yet opened a PPS account can do so by applying for the service at a post office or by filling out an application at https://www.manspasts.lv/lv/pns-document/pns-client.

Postal Carrier at Home provides customers with all postal and payment services that are available in person at post offices and customer centres, delivered right to their homes. If you apply for the service via the customer support team by calling 27008001 or by email info@pasts.lv, the postal carrier will provide it within one to three working days, depending on the service type—whether it is press subscription, postal item processing, or payment services.
