Will discontinue international registered small parcel service

Starting January 1, 2026, according to the decision adopted by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Latvijas Pasts will discontinue the international Standard+ small parcel service, also known as registered small parcels. From next year, registered shipments will only be available for sending parcels and letter correspondence containing documents.
Will discontinue international registered small parcel service

Customers can prepare internationally registered small parcels for dispatch until December 19, 2025, at 9:00 AM, and hand them over at a customer service center or post office by the end of the day. After this deadline, the company will offer alternative options for secure delivery—trackable shipments ("Standard") or insured shipments ("Standard+ insured").

To send small parcels containing goods and various items, customers will be able to choose the most suitable service type:

  • Economy – unregistered shipment delivered to the recipient’s mailbox, if size permits;

  • Standard – registered and trackable shipment throughout all processing stages, delivered to the mailbox if size permits;

  • Standard+ insured – registered shipment delivered to the recipient against signature, with contents insured against loss, theft, or damage. The maximum compensation amount is up to €49.00 + €5.51 per full kg, plus the service fee.

Destinations where these services are available and their prices can be found in Tariff book.
