Prepare Your shipment
You can send written notices, documents, postcards, photographs, and various types of printed materials as letter shipments.
Place the contents in an envelope and seal it.
If You are sending postcards, they do not need to be placed in an envelope.
Please note:
We do not send items in letters. To send items, choose a Parcel service instead.
Create shipment and pay for it online
Use our self-service portal to prepare and pay for trackable, registered, and insured letter shipments in Latvia and worldwide.
The shipment price is calculated based on weight, so please make sure Your shipment meets the requirements before payment.
Please note:
If the shipment exceeds the declared weight, it will be returned.
Add shipment label
When sending shipments using our self service portal, postage stamps are not required.
Once You have prepared and paid for the shipment, You will receive a shipping label with the shipment details. This information — including the sender’s and recipient’s details and the barcode — must be displayed on the envelope.
You can do this by:
- printing the information directly on the envelope You are sending,
- attaching a separately printed shipping label,
- printing a label at a parcel locker,
- handing in the shipment at a Customer Centre, where a Latvia Post employee will prepare the label for You.
Please note:
Parcel locker labels are relatively large and may exceed the size of a letter.
Hand over the letter
You can hand over the prepared and paid letter at a parcel locker or a Customer Centre.
When using a parcel locker:
- enter the shipment number,
- place the letter in the parcel locker compartment.
Please note:
Shipments prepared on mans.pasts.lv cannot be posted in letterboxes. Only ordinary letter shipments paid with postage stamps may be posted in letterboxes.

You can pay for ordinary letter shipments with a postage stamp for items weighing up to 2 kg, sent within Latvia or to any country worldwide.
Use our Tariff book to find out the cost of Your shipment to the selected destination.
Which postage stamps should You use?
For a shipment to be considered paid, one or more postage stamps must be affixed to the letter to cover the full cost of the shipment.
If You use multiple postage stamps, their values are combined.
For example:
- When sending a 600 g letter within Latvia, You need to affix one or more postage stamps with a total value of at least €4.45.
Correct address format
An address consists of several elements in the following order:
- street name, building name or number, apartment number (if applicable), city or village, parish, municipality, and postal code.
