From 1 January 2025, tariffs for universal postal service will change: three tariff groups have been set for letters

Tariff changes are influenced by evolving customer habits, a decline in the volume of traditional postal deliveries, rising transport and logistics costs, increasing energy prices and higher wages of employees. UPS tariffs also include the costs of maintaining a network of 155 post offices. The costs and conditions for providing international postal delivery services have also changed. The previous tariffs have been in force since the beginning of 2023 and have not been changed for two years.
In response to the significant increase in the cost of resources since 2023, Latvijas Pasts has implemented a range of cost optimisation measures. These measures encompass the introduction of automated sorting solutions, regular monitoring of postal service demand, optimisation of delivery routes, creation of the largest parcel locker network in Latvia and progressive digitalisation of services.
To simplify the sending process, from the new year, the previous 14 tariff groups for letter correspondence (documents or letters) will be reduced to just three: Latvia, the EEA and the rest of the world. This change will enable residents to quickly determine the shipping cost based on destination. From 1 January 2025, the price of sending a plain letter weighing up to 20 g to an addressee in Latvia will be EUR 2.30; in the EEA – EUR 2.54, and in the rest of the world – EUR 3.77.
To minimise the impact of postal tariff changes on customers, Latvijas Pasts encourages greater use of its self-service website Manspasts.lv. From 1 January 2025, a discount of EUR 0.40 (including VAT) will be applied to the processing of a registered or insured postal item on the website. This discount will also be applied to the processing of trackable shipments other than UPS.
The new UPS tariffs are available on the website of Latvijas Pasts here. From 1 January 2025, customers will also be able to calculate the cost of a specific shipment, conveniently using the tariff calculator.
If you have any questions, please contact the customer support team of Latvijas Pasts, which will promptly answer your queries over the phone 27008001 or email info@pasts.lv.
UPS comprises the minimum set of postal services of a defined quality, which is available to all users in Latvia for a single tariff, regardless of their geographical location. The UPS provider is obliged to ensure deliveries of domestic and cross-border letter correspondence and parcels, as well as subscription-based periodicals. Latvijas Pasts will provide UPS until 31 December 2026. Service tariffs in the postal sector are approved by PUC.
