Insured Postal Items

Letter

In an insured letter, you can send different types of correspondence, passports, diplomas, birth and marriage certificates, pension and judicial documents, lottery tickets, artwork and other important and valuable items inserted in an envelope.

Insured letters are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.
 

• Pay for postage in cash or by card
• If there is a postage stamp on the envelope, the value of the stamp is not included in the fee
• Prepare in accordance with the Rules on Consigning Postal Items

Submit it for postage in a dense paper envelope (open) at any post office.

Small Packet

In an insured small packet, you can mail industrial, household, cultural goods, food and other items with or without commercial value.

Insured small packets are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.

International small packets must not include items that are prohibited from being imported into the country of delivery, as well as items prohibited from being exported from Latvia.

• Prepare in accordance with the Rules on Consigning Postal Items
• Submit it for postage at any post office.

Parcel

In an insured parcel, you can mail industrial, household, cultural goods, food and other items with or without commercial value.

Insured parcels are accepted for mailing domestically and abroad.
 

• Pay for postage in cash or by card
• Prepare in accordance with the Rules on Consigning Postal Items
• Submit it for postage at any post office.
• To accelerate customs clearance for international parcels, fill in this form in English, French or in a language accepted by the destination country

International parcels must not include items that are prohibited from being imported into the country of delivery, as well as items prohibited from being exported from Latvia.

Proof of delivery (POD)

You will receive a notification confirming that the addressee has received the registered and insured postal item.
 

• Apply for this by filling in CN07 form available at post offices. For domestic postal items, you can use PS4 form, available at manspasts.lv.
• Pay for postage by sticking postage stamps on postcards, letters and printed papers

In case of other registered items, charges for additional services are included in the total amount.
 

Additional services are subject to the value-added tax (21%), which is included in the specified rate. 

Cash-on-Delivery (COD) Item

The addressee receives the item only after paying the COD amount you have specified. This amount may not exceed the insurance amount.
 

Apply for this by filling in a form.

For insured domestic postal items:

• Transfer order PNS-041 – for receiving the COD amount via postal transfer
• Payment order PNS-020 (for payment to another person’s PSS account) – for transferring the COD to a current account of the postal settlement system (PSS)
• Transfer order PNS-040 (for payment in cash to a credit institution) – for transferring the COD amount to a current account in a credit institution

The service is available only for domestic mail.
 

Confirmation of the Contents

You receive a postal worker’s confirmation of the contents of the item.

This additional service is offered for insured domestic small packets and parcels. In case of insured letters, confirmation of the contents is mandatory and the fee thereof is included in the total amount.

Apply for this by filling in a form at any post office. When accepting the item, the postal worker compares the contents with the list thereof in the form.
 

Additional services are subject to the value-added tax (21%), which is included in the specified rate. 

Home Delivery

Additional service is available:

• Sending domestic parcel, you can pay for delivery of the item directly to the indicated address;
• Receiving domestic or international parcels or small packets weighing over 500 grams. For domestic and international small packets weighing up to 500 grams are not subject to delivery charges.

If additional service is not chosen, the item can be delivered to the address at the addressee’s request.

Receiving a notification to arrive at the post office to receive the item, call the phone number indicated in the notification and request the additional delivery paid. Additional charges will be paid during delivery of the item.

Applying for an additional service Change the data of a registered mail item, change the delivery address of the shipment and get the shipment at the place of your convenience.

Additional service rate in EUR with VAT 21%

Cumbersome Parcels

You can mail parcels of a non-standard shape and size for domestic parcels - the sum of length and the largest perimeter up to 450 cm, neither dimension may exceed 200 cm.

Weight restrictions are the same as for standard parcels. You may also use additional service “Fragile (Colis Fragile)”.

Label “Cumbersome Parcels (Encombrant)” is put on the item.

Half of the total value of the item is added for “Cumbersome Parcels” and “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” postal items. The additional service fee is added to the total postage fee of the items.

Fragile (Colis Fragile)

You can mail parcels with fragile contents, when special care is needed throughout the delivery.

Pack the parcel according to its weight, shape and content to ensure its preservation during the transportation. Otherwise, we can refuse accepting the particular item.

Weight and dimension restrictions are the same as for standard parcels. You can also use additional service “Cumbersome Parcels”.

Label “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” is put on the item.

Half of the total value of the item is added for “Cumbersome Parcels” and “Fragile (Colis Fragile)” postal items. The additional service fee is added to the total postage fee of the items.

For international shipments, the availability of the additional service is determined by the postal operator of the addressee’s state of residence.

Office Pick-up

A postman visits your office and accepts postal items to be mailed to addressees.

If you are a manager of an office building or there are several offices in the address, use the service “Business Centre Pick-up”.

We accept both domestic and international postal items:

• Letter mail – ordinary, registered and insured
• Parcels – ordinary and insured

Documents necessary for submitting postal items to the postman can be prepared at self-service portal Mans Pasts.

• You do not have to spend time going to the post office
• All orders of a particular month in a single invoice
• In business centres, the service can be used by several companies simultaneously, thus reducing costs
• You can also submit items not paid for without postal stamps or labels
