More than 550 donation boxes have been placed in all Latvijas Pasts offices both in cities and rural regions, allowing any resident of Latvia to support seriously ill children who require long-term treatment and rehabilitation. Assistance as part of the charity campaign is needed by 143 children who require regular treatment and rehabilitation for the improvement of their health and quality of life for a total amount of 391,612 lats.

Latvijas Pasts Chairman of the Board Arnis Salnājs emphasizes: "The holiday season is a time of reflection and good deeds, so I urge each resident of Latvia to donate and give warmth to those who need it most - to children. Coins that have been saved up can serve well for this purpose, as when they are put together, they can give a little child a new chance to live. We have placed the donation boxes in all post offices - in this way, each contributor will know that his or her good deed is dedicated to a particular region, municipality or town."

"There is a hope in the hearts of many little children that someday they will be able to live like other kids their age - meet new friends, be able to run and play with them, get into little mischief, and make their parents happy with good deeds. However, there are children amidst us for whom this still remains only a hope. They have been affected by diseases that deny the joy of movement - cerebral palsy, which is often associated with epilepsy, or other rare congenital diseases or traumas, the consequences of which will have to be dealt for the rest of their lives," says the head of Ziedot.lv Rūta Dimanta.

The donations as part of the campaign For the Little Hearts are used to pay for rehabilitation programs available in Latvia, for example, in Vaivari, Līgatne or Baltezers, as well as in specialized health centers outside Latvia. Latvijas Pasts and Ziedot.lv urge everyone not to be indifferent and to help the ill children of their region:

· In Riga, assistance is needed to 73 children for a total amount of 214,223 lats;

· In Vidzeme, assistance is needed to 14 children for a total amount of 20,675 lats;

· In Zemgale, assistance is needed to 22 children for a total amount of 73,753 lats;

· In Latgale, assistance is needed to 19 children for a total amount of 50,853 lats;

· In Kurzeme, assistance is needed to 15 children for a total amount of 32,108 lats.

The donated funds with the help of charity organization Ziedot.lv will be used to allow the children to receive the much needed treatment and rehabilitation in accordance with doctors’ prescriptions.
