01.10.2013

The prices of goods and services provided by Latvijas Pastswill not change after the introduction of the euro in Latvia - it is proven by the parallel indication of prices in lats and euros that will be fully ensured at all post offices of Latvijas Pasts and on the website www.pasts.lv starting from 1st of October 2013. Like in the previous four years, alongside the commencement of the campaign for the subscription of the press, the tariffs for the delivery of printed publications will not change. The nominal value of stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts has already been indicated on these stamps in both - lats and euros since the beginning of the year.

Being one of the first companies to join the initiative Honest Introducer of the Euro (Godīgs eiro ieviesējs), Latvijas Pasts has proven its business practice to be responsible in relation to the recalculation of prices from lats to euros. The prices of goods and services available at Latvijas Pasts have been recalculated from lats to euros in conformity with the officially determined rate, and the mathematical principles have been observed regarding the round-up.

"Participation in the initiative Honest Introducer of the Euro has been a logical and very natural step made by Latvijas Pasts, because, according to our point of view, the accession of our country to the eurozone cannot and must not become a mechanism for an automatic rise in prices. In a sense, the introduction of euros in Latvia will become the evaluation of each entrepreneur’s attitude towards his/her customer: whether we respect our customers and consider them to be important. Our answer is a double "yes"," emphasises Arnis Salnajs (Salnājs), Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts.

Before October at some post offices, but starting from 1st of October - at all places where Latvijas Pasts provides postal services, the prices will be indicated in both - lats and euros. But, in relation to the prices charged for all services, any customer can find information at any post office in the catalogue of the new tariffs of Latvijas Pasts and in the subscription catalogue for the year 2014, where the prices are indicated in lats and euros. Both the catalogue of tariffs and subscription catalogue are available on the website of Latvijas Pasts www.pasts.lv from 1st of October.

Partial parallel indication of prices was already started by Latvijas Pasts at the beginning of 2013 by issuing stamps with the double face value in the lats and the euros, thus ensuring that the population becomes familiar with the changes and integration into the eurozone. The stamps with the face value indicated in both currencies - lats and euros - will be valid for unlimited period. But the stamps with the face value only in the lats will be valid for all of the year 2014.
