The convenient new site www.eiropasts.lv allows anyone to locate the nearest post office where from January to the end of March it will be possible to exchange lats for euros in accordance with the official exchange rate - LVL 1.00 = EUR 1.42. Cash exchange will be available in 302 post offices - in places where there are no bank branches or ATMs nearby.

Additionally, www.eiropasts.lv provides exhaustive information about the use of stamps from 1 January 2014: from that date, Latvijas Pasts will release stamps denominated only in euros, but throughout 2014 it will still be possible to use stamps released earlier, with the value indicated only in lats. There is no time-limit on the use of stamps denominated in both lats and euros, released by Latvijas Pasts throughout 2013 in order to gradually get customers acquainted with the value in euros. The new site also answers other questions regarding the use of stamps.

As Latvijas Pasts was one of the first Latvian companies to join the initiative Honest Euro Implementer and has never intended to increase the prices of its products or services with the introduction of the euro, the rates of Latvijas Pasts will not change from 2014. However, for the convenience of customers, www.eiropasts.lv indicates the prices of the most frequently used services in both lats and euros. A complete price list of the products and services of Latvijas Pasts, displayed alongside in both lats and euros, since 1 October 2013 has been available in all Latvijas Pasts post offices and on the company’s website www.pasts.lv.

The euro information site of Latvijas Pasts provides an explanation for convenient transition to the euro by opening a payment account with the Postal Payments System (PPS), which will allow avoiding transporting cash to a post office, instead automatically receiving euros in the account in January. The site explains how to open an account with the PNS and explains the benefits of using the account in any post office of Latvijas Pasts.

www.eiropasts.lv also includes information on the pension payment procedure during the euro adoption period. In December 2013, the pensions paid by the State Social Insurance Agency (SSIA) will be delivered earlier by Latvijas Pasts - by December 13. Each pension recipient will find out the specific payment date in November in a special notice sent by the SSIA.
