As December is the busiest month of the year for postal services throughout the world, with the amount of mail to be processed greatly exceeding that of other months, the postal operators of several countries have determined the dates by which customers should submit mail at post offices in order for it to reach the addressees before Christmas and the New Year. Latvijas Pasts has been notified about these changes of mail delivery times by the Universal Postal Union.

In order for holiday greetings and gifts sent by mail to reach the addressees on time, postal operators in December have determined the final dates for the submission of letter correspondence - postcards, letters and small parcels -, packages and express mail. The dates are different for each postal operator, so we request customers to check in advance if the mail will reach the recipient on time.

Changes of mail delivery time have been established by 15 countries: Brunei, Bulgaria, Darussalam, Hungary, India, Kenya, Lithuania, Mauritius, Peru, the Philippines, Romania, Russia, Serbia, South Africa, Thailand, and the USA; however, the delivery time at the end of the year may be longer also for mail destined to other countries. The changes of mail delivery time determined by postal operators can be viewed here.

Customers may submit mail at Latvijas Pasts post offices at any convenient time, and Latvijas Pasts will send out all mail to addressees without delay; however, if mail is submitted after the specified dates, the postal operators of the aforementioned 15 countries do not guarantee delivery before Christmas and the New Year.

Latvijas Pasts reminds that the last mail delivery date in Latvia before Christmas is December 20, and the last mail delivery date this year is December 28.
