By commencing cooperation with payment services provider Qiwi Baltic, Latvijas Pasts has installed special terminals for the payment of bills and other services in post offices of the largest cities. Qiwi payment terminals are particularly convenient for customers who need to make only one or a few payments, as the terminals allow doing it very quickly.

Qiwi payment terminals have been installed in ten post offices - in two post offices of Riga and eight post offices of Latvia's largest cities. The selected post offices have large customer traffic, and one of the most frequently used services is the payment of bills, so Latvijas Pasts in cooperation with Qiwi Baltic has created an alternative payment option, providing more convenient and faster service to customers.

Latvijas Pasts Service Development Department Manager Jana Reķe: "One of the development goals of Latvijas Pasts is to ensure the most convenient and efficient customer service. This goal encompasses also customer self-service for certain services, so we have begun cooperation with Qiwi Baltic by installing payment terminals in ten post offices. The cooperation provides an opportunity for customers to pay bills and receive other online services at the payment terminals on their own. If the new payment service is met with the customers' approval, we intend to install additional payment terminals also in other Latvijas Pasts offices."

The new service is particularly convenient for customers who come to the post office to pay only one or a few bills - by using the payment terminal, the time spent at the post office can be significantly reduced, particularly at the end of the year, when a large number of customers are visiting post offices to subscribe for press for the next year, send holiday greetings, and send or receive packages.

Qiwi Baltic founder Arsēnijs Jegiazarovs sees the cooperation with Latvijas Pasts as a long-term project: "Considering the extensive network of service provision locations of Latvijas Pasts, we expect that our payment terminals could operate throughout Latvia, reaching each and every resident. Latvijas Pasts has a broad and stable pool of customers who could be interested in our Qiwi payment terminal service."

Customers of Latvijas Pasts can pay for the services of more than 20 companies at Qiwi payment terminals - it is possible to pay mobile phone bills, utility bills, bank loans, leases and insurance bills. It is also possible to pay for online purchases, perform money transfers between credit institutions, etc.

Payment of bills and the use of other services at Qiwi payment terminals are simple - the customer chooses the service for which to pay from a list, enters the payment amount, and inserts the respective amount of cash in the terminal. After a successful payment, the customer is issued a receipt. It is currently possible to pay at Qiwi terminals with both lats and euros, but upon Latvia's accession to the eurozone from 2014, payments will be possible only in euros.

After assessing the interest level of customers and the frequency of use of the Qiwi payment terminals, Latvijas Pasts will consider the possibility of installing payment terminals also in other post offices - in places with large customer traffic.
