Latvijas Pasts concludes press subscription campaign with 445,000 subscriptions processed

16.01.2014

Approximately 445 thousand press subscriptions have been processed at Latvijas Pasts during the 2014 subscription campaign. The subscription activity is highest in rural regions, and most (61%) of the subscriptions are for a longer period: 10 to 12 months. Residents have actively begun using the new service Subscribe today, receive in two working days - until January 13, nearly 1,600 press subscriptions had been made by taking advantage of this offer.

During the subscription campaign, which lasted from October 1 to December 31, 2013, a total of 445,000 press subscriptions were processed at the 618 Latvijas Pasts locations throughout Latvia; approximately half (48%) of all subscriptions for 2014 were processed by mail carriers, while 23% were processed online or by phone.

61% of the subscriptions are for magazines, and when subscribing for magazines, people choose a longer subscription period than for newspapers. For example, 45% of all magazine subscriptions are for a period of 10 to 12 months, while the same indicator for newspapers is 17%.

When looking at the overall subscription periods, the trends remain unchanged: most (61%) of the subscriptions are for 10 to 12 months. 11% of subscriptions are for 6 to 9 months, 26% - for 1 to 3 months, and only 2% are for 4 to 5 months.

The highest subscription activity is still observed in rural regions (78% of all subscriptions); 22% of subscriptions have been made in Riga and other cities of Latvia.

In 2014, Latvijas Pasts is offering a new and convenient service to customers: Subscribe today, receive in two working days. Customers are already actively taking advantage of the new service, and nearly 1,550 press subscriptions have already been made in the first two weeks of the year by choosing it. By choosing the service at Latvijas Pasts website www.abone.pasts.lv or at post offices, it is possible to subscribe for publications that are published more frequently than once per month and for which a full-month subscription is not required. The list of publications to which the new service applies can be viewed in the print catalogue of press subscription for 2014, or in its electronic version, which is available at www.abone.pasts.lv.

Latvijas Pasts Chairman of the Board Arnis Salnājs says: "We are happy for the good results of the new service, which prove that customers today need a fast and convenient solution that allows receiving the desired publications in the mailbox in only a couple of days. In 2014, we are continuing active work on improving and modernizing our services to make them as convenient as possible for our customers."

Although the number of press subscriptions is approximately 2% lower than a year ago, there is no reason to believe that the habits of subscribers have changed; customers who subscribe for their favorite publications each year are still doing it. In addition, Latvijas Pasts is still receiving data from publishers, and the total number of subscriptions processed for 2014 could still increase.

Latvijas Pasts reminds that people can still make subscriptions for 2014, choosing the most convenient way for them: at post offices, at the mail carrier, on the website www.abone.pasts.lv or by calling info lines 67008001 or 27008001.
