Temporary changes to be made to regular activities of Zīles post office, Vecsaule parish, Bauska Municipality

14.03.2014

Starting on March 19, 2014, temporary changes to the form of activities of Zīles (Zīļu) post office, Vecsaule parish, Bauska Municipality, will be implemented by offering the universal postal services to the public through a local postal worker. The postal worker will provide the universal postal services in the premises of Zīles post office every working day, and the nearest post office where the customers can get access to all services offered by Latvijas Pasts is Skaistkalne post office, Skaistkalne parish, Vecumnieki District. The public use of Zīles post office's services is very low, so the temporary changes will not affect the overall comfort of the customers.

The temporary changes to the form of activities of Zīles post office are to take effect on March 19. From that date on, the residents of Vecsaule parish will have access to postal services in the premises of Zīles post office in Ozolaine, Vecsaule parish, every working day from 2 PM to 2:30 PM. Informative notifications about the upcoming changes have been put up in the post office and they will also be delivered to every resident of this area. The decision to temporarily change the form of activities of the said post office has been taken due to the long-lasting illness of the postal operator. The public use of Zīles post office's services is very low, with only a few dozen shipments being made on average every month. Therefore, it can be expected that the temporary changes will not affect the customers' convenience.

The residents of Vecsaule parish will have access to all universal postal services which will be provided by the postal worker in the premises of Zīles post office: sending and receiving domestic and international correspondence (letters, printed materials, small packages, packages, etc.), paying public utility bills and other bills (Latvenergo, Latvijas gāze, Lattelecom, LMT, Tele2, Bite), depositing money to a Postal Payments System account or a credit institution account, subscribing to print media and buying stamps and other supplies.

Upon receiving a notice regarding the receipt of registered mail, the customers served by Zīles post office may pick up their shipment in Skaistkalne post office or from the postal worker in the premises of Zīles post office. To collect the shipment from the postal worker, the customers should request the service in advance by calling 63933248 and specifying the date when they would like to receive the mail. The shipment can be delivered to the customer's place of residence at an extra charge of EUR 2.82. By opting for the Ekstra Pasts service, it is also possible to collect the goods ordered from online shops at any of 59 Statoil fuel stations; the list is available here.

Latvijas Pasts points out that a number postal services are available to customers at their place of residence: it is possible to receive money transfers, pensions, pay utility bills and other bills, purchase the products available at post offices (including calling cards, household and hygiene products and other supplies), subscribe to print media, submit postcards and letters for mailing and apply for delivery of mail at home.

Once Zīles post office resumes its regular activities, Latvijas Pasts will send a relevant notification to the residents of the area.
