Government savings bonds now available for purchase at 100 Latvijas Pasts post offices throughout Latvia

Starting from today, July 3, residents have the possibility to purchase government savings bonds at one hundred Latvijas Pasts post offices of the total 621 postal service places throughout Latvia. The bonds are aimed at providing an opportunity for everyone living in Latvia to buy government securities, thereby lending money to the government for a period of time.

Latvijas Pasts with its wide network of places where postal services are provided will make the purchase of savings bonds more accessible and convenient for every resident. This opportunity is particularly attractive for people living in rural areas who do not have access to the Internet or do not have an account with a commercial bank. This way, the process of acquiring savings bonds is diversified so that it is as effortless and safe as making any bank payment or any purchase at financial institutions.

The process of buying savings bonds in the post offices of Latvijas Pasts is very simple: the person willing to invest in these securities should submit an application, specifying the type of the selected savings bonds and the amount, and make payment for the purchase, presenting an identity document.

The investor has the option to choose among savings bonds with four different maturities - 6 months, 12 months, 5 years and 10 years. The nominal value of one bond is EUR 1, and the minimum purchase amount is EUR 50. The maximum purchase limit is EUR 100,000 per application for purchase, however the number of applications submitted during the day is not limited.

A total of 100 Latvijas Pasts post offices of the 621 postal service places throughout Latvia provide the possibility to purchase the government savings bonds: 27 post offices in Zemgale, 26 offices in Vidzeme, 23 offices in Kurzeme and 14 offices in Latgale. In the capital city Riga, the government savings bonds are available for purchase in three post offices, while in Riga Region there are seven offices offering these securities.
