Minister of Transport Anrijs Matīss to unveil second Latvijas Pasts post office with modern concept inRēzekne on July 18

The second post office of Latvijas Pasts featuring a modern functional and design concept will be located outside the capital city Riga - in the center of Rēzekne, Latgale Region. The special unveiling event of the modernized Rēzekne post office No. 1 withparticipation of Minister of Transport Anrijs Matīss is to be held at 81 Atbrīvošanas aleja, bldg. 5 on July 18, 2014 at 2 PM. To provide more convenient services for customers and improved working conditions for employees, Latvijas Pasts has developed a contemporary concept for post offices which will be a model for upgrading a total of approximately 10 post offices this year.

The employees of Rēzekne post office No. 1 have been providing services for the local and passing customers visiting the new premises since July 15, yet the special unveiling event of the office with participation of Minister of Transport Anrijs Matīss and representatives of Rēzekne City and Municipality Councils will take place on July 18 at 2 PM. During the unveiling ceremony, any visitor to the office will have an opportunity to send, free of charge, a special Latvijas Pasts postcard with the cancellation which has been custom made for this event.

The customer flow at the newly opened Rēzekne post office No. 1is regulated by the modern waiting line management system Qminder, which allows the customers to take their ticket remotely by using a mobile application on their smartphone or tablet and get notified about the approximate waiting time, the queue progress and their turn when there are two people before them in the queue. Currently, this customer flow management system is used in three offices of Latvijas Pasts: Rēzekne post office No. 1, the new Riga post office No. 28 at the State Revenue Service center and Valmiera post office No. 4. By the end of 2014, it is planned to implement this system at another five offices, and over time it will be introduced at the largest post offices across the country.

Rēzekne post office No. 1is equipped with a ramp that provides easy access for people with reduced mobility and parents with prams.

The modern post office model developed by Latvijas Pasts is based on a number of principles ensuring customer convenience, such as a modern environment, transparent display of services and products, customer flow management system in compliance with the present-day service requirements and availability of commodities which are in demand at the particular post office. This means that the offices will offer different goods according to the customers' habit survey: the main focus in the post offices in Riga and other major Latvian cities is and will be on provision of postal services, while the supply in rural areas will be formed with regard to the demand of the people living in the particular area, which can also be affected by seasonal trends.

This year, Latvijas Pasts is going to upgrade a total of 10 post offices to the new concept of provision of postal services - both in Riga and outside the capital. The next post office to undergo modernization is located in Jelgava. The first office of this kind was opened at the State Revenue Service center at 1 Talejas Street, Riga, in June.
