Latvijas Pasts to bring on additional staff for faster delivery of shipments and more efficient customer service in busiest post offices in December

To provide faster customer service and more efficient processing of mail shipments in December, which is the busiest period in post offices around the world before Christmas and New Year, Latvijas Pasts is bringing on additional staff who will deal specifically with the delivery of shipments. These changes will be made in 14 post offices in Riga and central post offices in the major Latvian cities in December.

The additional staff resources will be available from December in 14 post offices in Riga with the highest customer flow, as well as in the central post offices in the major cities of Latvia. Extra staff is brought on to ensure the fastest possible collection of shipments. Since November, most post offices in Riga have set up dedicated (‘quick’) counters where shipments can be picked up. Furthermore, as the holiday season is approaching, the services of additional workers will be used primarily to issue shipments during the periods of peak customer influx, while the rest of the time they will help provide other postal services. This system will be used in the following post offices in Riga:

  • Post office No. 5  (11 Tilta Street, bldg. 3),
  • Post office No. 10 (41/43 Elizabetes Street),
  • Post office No. 11 (20 Marijas Street),
  • Post office No. 13 (145 K.Valdemāra Street, bldg. 1),
  • Post office No. 15 (34 A.Dombrovska Street),
  • Post office No. 19 (5 Rēznas Street),
  • Post office No. 21 (7 Ulbrokas Street),
  • Post office No. 24 (428 Brīvības gatve),
  • Post office No. 35 (7 Rumbulas Street),
  • Post office No. 55 (12 Cementa Street),
  • Post office No. 58 (52 Valdeķu Street, bldg.  7),
  • Post office No. 69 (146 Slokas Street),
  • Post office No. 82 (120 A.Deglava Street),
  • Post office No. 84 (52 Ūnijas Street).

To improve customer convenience, the working time of Riga post office No. 11 will be extended by two hours on Saturdays until December 31, and during this period it will be open to customers every Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. The working time of Ādaži post office will be significantly extended by a total of three hours on weekdays: from December it will be open from 7 AM to 7 PM. Starting from December 1, Riga post office No. 15 offers an additional customer area which is intended for the collection of shipments and other so-called ‘quick’ services, such as purchasing of stamps, postcards and envelopes.

Latvijas Pasts plans to continue service improvement, customer area expansion, installation of multi-function waiting line management systems and modernization of post offices in 2015 as well.
