Latvijas Pasts concludes press subscription campaign with 413,000 subscriptions processed

Nearly 413 thousand press subscriptions have been processed at Latvijas Pasts during the subscription campaign 2015. Subscription activity in recent years has remained stable, and the people’s subscription habits have not changed as a whole: customers who have subscribed to their favorite newspapers and magazines year after year continue with their trend this year as well. Moreover, Latvijas Pasts keeps on receiving data from the press publishers, and the total number of subscriptions processed for 2015 may still grow.

During the subscription campaign, which ran from October 1 to December 28, 2014, a total of approximately 413,000 press subscriptions were processed. Almost one half – 47% – of all subscriptions were processed at the 620 post offices of Latvijas Pasts throughout Latvia and using the services of the mail carrier. At the same time, 26% of all subscriptions were made online and by phone. The number of subscriptions processed through the two latter channels has been increasing by several percent every year.

61% of all subscriptions are for magazines, and when subscribing to their favorite magazine titles, people choose a longer subscription period than for newspapers. For example, 45% of all magazine subscriptions are for a period of 10 to 12 months, while the same indicator for newspapers is 18%.

When looking at the overall subscription periods, the trends remain unchanged: most (63%) of the subscriptions have been made for 10 to 12 months. 11% of subscriptions are for 6 to 9 months, 24% – for 1 to 3 months, and only 2% are for 4 to 5 months.

The highest subscription activity is still observed in rural regions (78% of all subscriptions); 22% of subscriptions have been made in Riga and other major cities of Latvia.

Compared to last year, the number of press subscriptions processed has dropped by nearly 6%, but there is no reason to think that the people have changed their habits: customers who have subscribed to their favorite titles year after year continue with their trend this year as well. In addition, Latvijas Pasts keeps on receiving data from the press publishers, and the total number of subscriptions processed for 2015 may still grow.

Latvijas Pasts reminds that people can still make press subscriptions for 2015, choosing the most convenient way for them: at post offices, at the mail carrier, on the website www.abone.pasts.lv or by calling info lines 67008001 or 27008001.
