Latvijas Pasts to continue ensuring availability of fast pick-up counters for faster delivery of shipments and more efficient customer service in busiest post offices

As Latvian residents are increasingly shopping online, the amount of mail handled by Latvijas Pasts and the number of customers who visit post offices to pick up their packages continue to grow too. In order to provide faster customer service and more efficient processing of mail in the future, starting from February Latvijas Pasts offers its customers to collect their shipments from dedicated counters available in 17 post offices in Riga and a number of central post offices in the largest Latvian cities.

Starting from February, 17 post offices in Riga with the highest customer flow, as well as 20 central post offices in the major cities of Latvia offer the convenience of dedicated fast pick-up counters which will primarily issue shipments during the periods of peak customer influx on weekdays, while the rest of the time they will provide other postal services. This improvement will enable the customers to pick up their packages in the quickest and easiest way. The list of post offices with fast pick-up counters can be viewed here.

A while ago, at the end of 2014, Latvijas Pasts set up some fast pick-up counters for issuing of mail, and in December, when the number of the handled small packets increased 62% compared with the same period in 2013, post offices with the highest customer flow in Riga and major Latvian cities brought on additional staff who were dealing specifically with the delivery of mail. Customers appreciated the availability of such counters, and Latvijas Pasts created an opportunity to continue the provision of this service and expand the number of post offices with fast pick-up counters.

Furthermore, Latvijas Pasts has already equipped eight post offices with the modern waiting line management system Qminder, which allows the customers to take their ticket remotely by using a mobile application on their smartphone or tablet and get notified about the approximate waiting time, the queue progress and their turn when there are two people before them in the queue. Currently, this customer flow management system is used at Rēzekne post office No. 1, Riga post office No. 28 at the State Revenue Service center, Riga post office No. 17 at the shopping center Domina, Riga post office No. 22 at the shopping center Alfa, Riga post office No. 25 at the shopping center Spice, Riga post office No. 44, Valmiera post office No. 4 and Jelgava post office No. 5. In 2015, it is planned to implement this system at a total of one hundred largest post offices across the country.

Meanwhile, Latvijas Pasts continues working on development and implementation of other solutions aimed at leveling out the customer flow during the peak hours at post offices, thus providing customers with the opportunity to quickly receive mail, as well as to use other postal services. Besides, in 2015 the company is making further efforts to improve the range of services, develop e-services, expand post office space and upgrade the premises.
