Donations made by residents at Latvijas Pasts post offices to Ziedot.lv campaign for ill children amounted to nearly EUR 32,000 in one year

During one year, from December 2013 to January 2015, nearly 32,000 euros were donated at Latvijas Pasts post offices for the Ziedot.lv charity campaign For the Little Hearts. The funds that so far have been donated at Latvijas Pasts offices have been used for the treatment and rehabilitation of 15 children from across Latvia. Collection of donations at post offices will continue this year too, and assistance will be provided to at least 11 more children.

Latvijas Pasts customers have shown great activity since the donation boxes were placed in all post offices of the company, and their donations amounted to a total of 31,862.08 euros by January this year.

Some of the funds donated were used for treatment and rehabilitation of 15 children last year, and this year it is planed to provide assistance to 11 more children from Riga, Liepāja and Rēzekne. The funds will be used to cover the cost of the children’s rehabilitation and professional medical advice which are not included in the state-paid health services, such as dolphin therapy and physiotherapy, as well as consultations by an osteopath, psychologist and neuro-orthopaedist.

In 2015, assistance as part of the charity campaign For the Little Hearts is needed by 69 children in Latvia who require regular treatment and rehabilitation for the improvement of their health and quality of life for a total amount of 158,409 euros. Because of that, collection of donations for this program at Latvijas Pasts post offices is set to continue. More detailed information on the use of donations, as well as the possibilities to provide support to children who continue to need help can be found on Ziedot.lv website www.ziedot.lv.

“I am pleased that Latvijas Pasts with its wide network of post offices has managed to unite so many Latvian residents and our customers for a common goal by participating in the project For the Little Hearts. I would like to say a big thank you to all the donors who took care of providing support to seriously ill children. In view of the successful cooperation between Latvijas Pasts and all people of Latvia, we will continue to run this campaign together with Ziedot.lv and provide assistance to those who need it most,” says Arnis Salnājs, Latvijas Pasts Chairman of the Board.

Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv, expresses her gratitude by saying: “On behalf of families we would like to thank Latvijas Pasts for giving the opportunity to its customers to make donations in a convenient way and provide families with the much needed support in order to improve the health of the seriously ill children”.

More than 600 donation boxes have been placed in all Latvijas Pasts post offices, and any customer can use them to support the Ziedot.lv charity campaign for seriously ill children For the Little Hearts.
