Latvijas Pasts, as a special friend of Father Christmas, encourages every child to write and send a letter to Father Christmas. Meanwhile, parents are kindly asked to make sure that the correct Father Christmas’s address and the sender’s address are indicated on the letter and stamps with suitable denomination are affixed.
Latvian Father Christmas lives in Rūķupe, Pāvilosta Municipality. Latvijas Pasts delivers the letters addressed to Father Christmas right to his mailbox. All the replies from Father Christmas to the children will be delivered by Latvijas Pasts to the addressees, provided that the correct address of the sender has been indicated. Latvijas Pasts also supports the Rūķupe campaign Let us Fill the Big Bag with Gifts, during which everyone – schools, kindergartens and individuals – is invited to prepare gifts for those whose Christmas will not be as bright as they would like it to be.
Father Christmas in Rūķupe has so far received 65 letters through the intermediary of Latvijas Pasts. Among them there are even letters from Ukraine and Portugal, but the majority have been sent from Latvia. Father Christmas has already replied to 36 letters and also prepared postcards, which will be delivered by Latvijas Pasts.
Latvijas Pasts would like to point out that if the recipient indicated on the letter is Santa Claus, the letter will be delivered to Santa Claus in Finland and if the letter is addressed to Grandfather Frost, it will go to Russia.
A regular letter to Father Christmas in Latvia can be sent by using a stamp with a denomination of €0.50, to Santa Claus in Finland – with a denomination of €0.71 and to Grandfather Frost in Russia – with a denomination of €0.85.
In order for the letter to successfully reach the destination, it is important to indicate the correct Father Christmas’s address, affix stamps with suitable denomination and also write the sender’s address. Please keep in mind that an inaccurate or incorrect address may cause the letter to travel longer than expected or not reach the addressee at all.
