Over 16,000 euros donated at Latvijas Pasts post offices during Ziedot.lv charity campaign for seriously ill children For the Little Hearts in 2015

In 2015, a total of 16,133.54 euros was donated at Latvijas Pasts post offices across Latvia during the Ziedot.lv charity campaign for seriously ill children For the Little Hearts. Collection of donations at post offices will continue this year too, appealing to the public to support rehabilitation of seriously ill children in the new rehabilitation center Poga.

In 2015, more than 600 donation boxes were placed at Latvijas Pasts post offices, and any customer could use them to support the Ziedot.lv charity campaign for seriously ill children For the Little Hearts. Over the year, the company’s customers have donated 16,133.54 euros. The donated funds will be used to cover the rehabilitation costs, which are not included in the state-paid health services, for 12 seriously ill children in 2016. The rehabilitation team will include professionals from various disciplines, such as a child neurologist, a physiotherapist, a physiotherapist/osteopath and an ergotherapist. Other health professionals, such as an early childhood speech therapist, a nutrition specialist, an orthopedist and others will be involved if necessary. The charity campaign For the Little Hearts supports children who require regular treatment and rehabilitation for the improvement of their health and quality of life.

Arnis Salnājs, Latvijas Pasts Chairman of the Board, points out: “We are pleased that our customers have not remained insensitive and provided their support to the charity campaign for seriously ill children. Our post offices can be found in the most remote places in Latvia, and this has enabled a large number of people to participate in the Ziedot.lv charity initiative. We are grateful to every donor for their support”.

“Latvijas Pasts as a heart postman has brought wonderful news to the families of 12 seriously ill children. Thanks to the donations made by Latvijas Pasts customers and employees, 12 little children from across Latvia will receive the much needed rehabilitation, enabling them to live a better quality life”, Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv, says with warmth.

Latvijas Pasts is a socially responsible company and we will continue to offer our customers the opportunity to donate via donation boxes, thus helping the socially vulnerable groups of fellow human beings. This year we encourage you to continue support for the ill children in the new children’s rehabilitation center Poga. The rehabilitation center Poga is the most recent charity initiative of Ziedot.lv. The newly established center will offer unique rehabilitation services in Latvia, which until now were only available to Latvian children with movement disorders and neurological diseases abroad. “Every child is important for Latvia, and we as a society can provide a helping hand to seriously ill children. Our common objective is that Poga becomes a gift from the public and companies to Latvian children on the centenary of Latvia”, Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv, emphasizes.
