Volume of international small packets handled by Latvijas Pasts continues to grow in January 2016

The data on the amount of international small packets compiled in early 2016 shows that the volume of small packets continues to grow. In January 2016, Latvijas Pasts processed 11% more small packets than in the same period in 2015.

There continues to be a marked increase in the number of small packets received at Latvijas Pasts from online stores, with packets from China still comprising the biggest share. The amount of international small packets handled by Latvijas Pasts increased by more than 40,000 units in January 2016, which is 11% more than in January 2015.

Latvijas Pasts concluded 2015 with a substantial increase of 34% in the amount of international small packets processed, which is almost one million units more than in 2014.

Customers increasingly choose to collect their mail from an alternative delivery point. Latvijas Pasts is continuing to expand alternative channels of delivery. One of them involves the collaboration with Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia, providing customers with the opportunity to pick up shipments at alternative mail delivery locations – a total of 59 Statoil Fuel & Retail Latvia gas stations throughout Latvia (hereinafter Statoil stations). At the moment, 20 companies use Statoil stations as their mail delivery point.

These mail delivery locations can be used to collect shipments weighing less than seven kilograms, while heavier packets are sent to the post office servicing the recipient. Shipments may be collected within 10 days of receiving the notification.
