Latvijas Pasts makes addition to series Flowers by releasing new stamp Water Lily

Latvijas Pasts has released the new stamp Water Lily to supplement the eye-catching series Flowers. The first-day cancellation event will take place in Riga post office No. 50 located in the shopping mall Origo, 2 Stacijas laukums, Riga, on March 4, 2016, from 7:30 AM to 8:00 PM.

The denomination of the new stamp Water Lily is € 0.50, corresponding to the cost of mailing a regular Class B letter within Latvia. The print run of the stamp is 1,000,000 copies and it has been printed at Baltic Banknote printing house in Latvia. The release of the stamp is accompanied by the issue of a special cover with a print run of 1,500 copies. The new stamp and cover were designed by the artist Lilija Dinere.

Water lily is one of the most magnificent aquatic plants. It can impress anyone with its beauty and diversity. Water lilies are large plants with big floating, long-stalked leaves that grow in water and wetlands. The flowers are large and solitary. Pollination occurs either by insects or by self-pollination.

Water Lily is the seventh stamp in the series Flowers, which was launched in 2010 by Latvijas Pasts. The first release in the series was Peony, which was followed by Rose, Lily, Iris, Tulip and Sunflower
