10,000 euro donated by Latvijas Pasts customers within Ziedot.lv charity campaign for ill children For the Little Hearts in first half of year

From January to June 2016, 10,000 euro was donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in the post offices across Latvia for the campaign For the Little Hearts run by the charity organization Ziedot.lv and aimed at ensuring treatment and rehabilitation of seriously ill children from all regions of Latvia. The funds that have been donated in Latvijas Pasts post offices during the six months are used to provide the necessary help to 24 children. More than 58,000 euro has been donated for the campaign For the Little Hearts by people visiting Latvijas Pasts post offices in two and a half years, and the collection of donations in the post offices continues.

The funds donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in the first six months of this year can be used to pay for medical treatment and rehabilitation cycles for 24 children aged from four to sixteen years, based on the doctors’ recommendations regarding the therapy required for each child. Treatment received on a regular basis significantly improves the health of seriously ill children, promotes their development and improves their quality of life. The little patients come from places all over Latvia, such as Dobele, Jelgava, Jūrmala, Kraslava, Liepāja, Līvāni, Ventspils, Riga, etc.

The assistance as part of the charity campaign For the Little Hearts is sought by 93 children who require regular treatment and rehabilitation for the improvement of their health and quality of life for a total amount of nearly 165,000 euro. Therefore, the fundraising in Latvijas Pasts post offices is set to continue, taking into account the opportunities provided by the company’s vast and branched postal network throughout Latvia and the positive response of the people willing to make donations.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts: “As a company, we are pleased about the opportunity to use several hundred of our post offices not only for the provision of services but also for charitable purposes. And here’s the biggest thank you to our customers for their response!”

Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv: “We would like to thank the employees and customers of Latvijas Pasts for the possibility to help Latvian children and their families through your kind involvement. Every cent and euro donated will be spent carefully to obtain the best!”

The collection of donations for the Ziedot.lv campaign For the Little Hearts was launched in the post offices in December 2013.
