The newer modern concept post office in the shopping centre Mols to take over the service of customers of Riga post office No. 19

As a result of the assessment of the trends in using the postal services and the number of the post offices in Riga City, the nearby modern concept post office No. 3 conveniently located in the shopping centre Mols at 46 Krasta Street will start servicing the customers of Riga post office No. 19 from the 31st of August 2016. The customers from this area can get access to postal services also in several other post offices nearby. The postal code of the customers from the area serviced by Riga post office No. 19 will remain unchanged: LV-1019.

The premises of Riga post office No. 19 at 5 Rēznas Street do not meet the customer service requirements due to their poor technical condition, while access to the post office is not suitable for young mothers with baby strollers and customers with reduced mobility. When planning the reorganisation of the customer flow from this post office, a new post office was opened in the shopping centre Mols in Riga at the end of 2015, which is designed in accordance with the principles of the modern post office concept and which will take over the service of customers of Riga post office No. 19. All current employees of post office No. 19 will start work in other Latvijas Pasts post offices from the 1st of September. On the 31st of August post office No. 19 will be open until 12 noon.

Items addressed to the customers in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 19 can be received in the future in Riga post office No. 3 in the shopping centre Mols. Post office No. 3 is open seven days a week from 10 AM to 9 PM, and it can be conveniently reached by car and easily accessed by young parents and customers with reduced mobility. The customer flow in the post office is regulated by the modern queue management system.

Any other postal services are available not only in this post office, but also in other post offices in the neighbourhood: Riga post office No. 27 at 1 Akadēmijas laukums or Riga post office No. 50 in the shopping centre Origo at 2 Stacijas laukums.

The residents of the capital Riga may also receive the necessary postal services directly from a postman at their place of residence if it is difficult for them to get to the post office. The postman can provide the following services at the customer’s place of residence: receipt of money orders and pensions, payment of utility bills and other bills, purchase of stamps and envelopes, dispatch of postcards and letters, press subscriptions, applying for home delivery of items, etc.

During the last two years Latvijas Pasts has opened two new modern concept post offices in Riga region: Riga post office No. 28 at the State Revenue Service centre at 1 Talejas Street and Riga post office No. 3 in the shopping centre Mols. After evaluating the locations, lease contracts and technical conditions, the provision of functions of two post offices has been transferred to other post offices this year.

The number and locations of the post offices in Riga are determined by the Decision of the Public Utilities Commission’s Council on the Universal Postal Service Obligations, which stipulates that Latvijas Pasts must provide at least 30 permanent post offices in Riga. Latvijas Pasts complies with these conditions by providing postal services in 41 post offices.

The customers residing in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 19 have been informed on the receipt of postal services at Riga post office No. 3 since the 12th of August by placing an information notice in the letter-box of each customer.
