15,000 euro donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in post offices within Ziedot.lv charity campaign for ill children For the Little Hearts in 2016

15,000 euro was donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in 2016 for the campaign For the Little Hearts run by the charity organization Ziedot.lv and aimed at ensuring treatment and rehabilitation of seriously ill children from all regions of Latvia. The funds that have been donated in Latvijas Pasts post offices are used to provide help to 34 children. More than 60,000 euro has been donated for the campaign For the Little Hearts by people visiting Latvijas Pasts post offices in three years, and the collection of donations in the post offices continues.

Almost 500 donation boxes have been placed in post offices across Latvia. The funds donated by Latvijas Pasts customers in 2016 can be used to pay for medical treatment and rehabilitation cycles for 34 children aged from four to sixteen years, based on the doctors’ recommendations regarding the therapy required for each child. Treatment received on a regular basis significantly improves the health of seriously ill children, promotes their development and improves their quality of life. The little patients come from places all over Latvia, such as Dobele, Jelgava, Jūrmala, Kraslava, Liepāja, Līvāni, Ventspils, Riga, etc.

In 2017 the collection of donations in Latvijas Pasts post offices continues, calling on people to help seriously ill children to receive high quality rehabilitation services here in Latvia. More than 100 children and young people from across Latvia seek help in 2017. 200,000 euro is needed to provide support for all children. The vast and branched postal network of Latvijas Pasts throughout Latvia provides a unique opportunity for all Latvian people to support our sick children. The previous years’ experience shows that the response of the people willing to make donations is highly positive.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts: “On behalf of Latvijas Pasts I express my thanks to all our customers who have not only used the postal services in the post offices, but also made donations for the campaign For the Little Hearts. Our offices are located throughout Latvia, and the funds donated there are also used to provide medical treatment and rehabilitation services for children from all regions of the country.”

Rūta Dimanta, Manager of Ziedot.lv: “We would like to thank the employees and customers of Latvijas Pasts for the possibility to help Latvian children and their families through your kind involvement. Every cent and euro donated will be spent carefully to obtain the best!”

The collection of donations in cooperation with Ziedot.lv was launched in the post offices in December 2013 and has now been underway for the fourth consecutive year.
