A total of 398,722 press subscriptions have been processed during Latvijas Pasts subscription campaign for 2017, maintaining a stable trend of subscription activity. Most customers have subscribed to their selected periodicals for a longer period of time – 10 to 12 months, and most subscriptions to periodicals are for magazines. There is an opportunity to subscribe to periodicals for 2017 at the moment as well: the newspapers and magazines issued in Latvia will be delivered through Latvijas Pasts in two business days if the publisher has provided for this possibility.

A positive trend has been observed in the duration of the subscription period over the recent years: the vast majority, or almost 65% of the customers, have made their press subscriptions for 2017 for a period of 10 to 12 months. 11% of subscriptions are for six to nine months, 23% – are for one to three months, and the least amount – 1% – are for four to five months.

Magazines make up 61% of the total number of subscriptions for 2017, while newspapers account for 39%.

“In order to maintain the press subscription habits, Latvijas Pasts has implemented an intensive action plan, improving the delivery times of newspapers available by subscription in almost 50 areas starting from the end of 2016 and shortening the delivery time by one to five hours. At the same time we continue to explore the possibilities for improving the delivery of subscribed periodicals in other places in Latvia, taking into account the financial investment required to ensure this process,” Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

The highest subscription activity is still observed in rural regions, where 76% of all subscriptions have been processed. In turn, 16% have been made in Riga and 8% – in the largest Latvian cities.

Most subscriptions, or 42%, of the total number of subscriptions for 2017 have been processed in Latvijas Pasts post offices and from postmen, while 26% of subscriptions have been made using the e-subscription option on the website www.abone.pasts.lv.

The opportunity to subscribe to your favourite periodicals for 2017 still remains: the newspapers and magazines issued in Latvia during the relevant subscription period will be delivered in two business days if the publisher has provided for this possibility; subscriptions to other periodicals for 2017 will start from the beginning of a full month, and the time of receiving international periodicals will depend on the schedule set by the supplier and the subscription price period.

A total of over 700 periodicals can still be subscribed to at Latvijas Pasts for the year 2017, including newspapers, magazines and regional periodicals issued in Latvia, as well as foreign print media titles.

The free e-subscription option offered on the website www.abone.pasts.lv is particularly advantageous and convenient. A customer may subscribe to the chosen periodicals without registration in the system and by paying for them online, with no service charge.

Regular customers may find it more convenient to register their data in the subscription system, as they will not have to enter the required information again when making a subscription at a later time. Registered users will have faster access to updated information regarding the subscribed periodicals; besides, the e-subscription system provides the opportunity to review one’s previous subscriptions and related invoices. Subscription to the periodicals listed in the Subscription Catalogue 2017 through the website www.abone.pasts.lv is also available to customers abroad.

A total of 416.3 thousand subscriptions to periodicals were processed for the year 2016.
