Latvijas Pasts customers name the best postmen and post office operators of each region

The most knowledgeable, accountable and reliable Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators of each Latvian region have been selected in the customers’ voting within the contest Mans pastnieks 2016 (My postman 2016) organised by the company. A total of 1,406 Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators have been proposed for either of the nominations. The reviews that have been sent in reflect the essential role of the postal workers in the life of many customers: the residents speak highly not only of the professional skills of Latvijas Pasts employees, but also their personal qualities.

The best postman and post office operator have been selected in each Latvian region – Riga, Kurzeme, Vidzeme, Zemgale and Latgale, and gratitude has been expressed to a lot of postal workers. A total of 1,406 Latvijas Pasts postmen or post office operators have been proposed for an award, which is approximately half of the nearly 3,000 Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators. The contest My postman 2016 has received an unprecedented response from people: 6,020 customers’ questionnaires have been received, of which almost 600 have been filled in online using the form on the website of Latvijas Pasts.

Based on the customers’ opinion, the following employees have been chosen as the best in the postmen competition: Dagmāra Berga from Garkalne post office, Garkalne Municipality in Riga region, Svetlana Pisareva from Tukums post office No. 1, Tukums Municipality in Kurzeme region, Dace Svilpe from Ērgļi post office, Ērgļi Municipality in Vidzeme region, Inese Krastiņa from Pļaviņas post office, Pļaviņas Municipality in Zemgale region and Anita Ungure from Krāslava post office No. 1, Krāslava Municipality in Latgale region.

In turn, the title of the best post office operator, as voted by the customers, has been awarded to: Ilze Burkevica from Riga post office No. 45 in Riga region, Jadviga Inapša from Grieze post office, Saldus Municipality in Kurzeme region, Anita Eglīte from Liepna post office, Alūksne Municipality in Vidzeme region, Dzintra Tomiņa from Jēkabpils post office No. 1 in Zemgale region and Ilona Grolmusa from Viļāni post office, Viļāni Municipality in Latgale region.

Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts Mārcis Vilcāns points out: “Thanks to all the diligent employees of Latvijas Pasts and all the customers who have chosen their favourite postal worker and sent in the questionnaire. I am convinced that credit also goes to many more of our company’s employees than we can reward within one contest, yet we must respect the competitive principle of the contest: the one who receives most customers’ votes wins. We highly appreciate the opinion of every customer: both a kind word and a shortcoming that has been noted, because every suggestion by a customer is a step towards the improvement of the quality of services.”

The postmen and post office operators with the highest assessment rates given by the customers will receive valuable prizes from Latvijas Pasts

In their questionnaires the customers of Latvijas Pasts have highlighted the professional skills of the postal workers, such as accuracy, knowledgeability, accountability, communication skills and helpfulness. At the same time the customers have also praised the personal qualities of the employees: a postman is often the only link with the outside world, which is especially true for senior citizens living in rural areas.

This is the sixth time that Latvijas Pasts called on the residents to name the best postman and post office operator. The questionnaire for the contest My postman 2016 was distributed along with the Subscription Catalogue 2017 of Latvijas Pasts in early October 2016. The questionnaires could be filled in and submitted until the 31st of January 2017. It was the first time that the questionnaires for the best postal worker were available for filling in and submitting online too.
