Opening hours improved in a number of post offices in Riga and Pierīga; fast pick-up counters for delivery of items continue to operate

In order to improve the customers’ convenience and provide more efficient customer service, Latvijas Pasts has extended the opening hours of the 27 biggest and busiest post offices in Riga since the 1st of March 2017. Analysing the accessibility of postal services, Latvijas Pasts is reviewing the availability of the services provided by the post offices in Pierīga (Greater Riga area), and the opening hours in Ķekava post office have been improved already as from the 1st of March. In turn, additional staff continues to work in 20 post offices in Riga and Pierīga to ensure faster delivery of items.

To provide more efficient customer care and ensure more convenient postal services, the Saturday opening hours of the 27 busiest post offices in Riga have been extended by two hours: from now on these post offices will be open to visitors from 10 AM to 3 PM. A detailed list of all the post offices with the extended Saturday opening hours as from the 1st of March 2017 can be viewed here.

Analysing the current situation in the provision of postal services and taking into consideration the need for receiving postal services at the time convenient for the customers, the opening hours have also be changed in Ķekava post office starting from the 1st of March. From now on the post office will be open to visitors from 8 AM to 7 PM one day a week – on Thursdays – and on the rest of the weekdays it will work from 8 AM to 5 PM, just as before.

In order to improve the availability of postal services, Latvijas Pasts is currently also reviewing and analysing the opening hours of other post offices in Pierīga, and, adjustments to the duration of their working time will be made if necessary.

Taking into account the increase in the amount of the international items received and the workload of the post offices, the so-called fast pick-up counters continue to operate in the 20 most visited post offices in Riga and Pierīga. Using the services of the fast pick-up counters, the customers can receive registered letters, small packets and parcels not requiring the payment of the customs duty or cash-on-delivery charges during the busiest working hours every weekday.
