Most Mother’s Day greeting postcards will travel to Ineses, Daces and Anitas in Riga, Valmiera and Tukums

A total of 36,000 postcards will travel to addressees throughout Latvia within the traditional Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts. Most postcards will be received by women called Inese, Dace and Anita in Riga, Valmiera and Tukums. It took one and a half day for Facebook and Twitter users to fill in the greetings cards for mothers which were offered by Latvijas Pasts free of charge. A total of 30,000 postcards were sent within this campaign in 2016.

To promote the tradition of sending postcards among the audience using mainly the virtual environment for everyday communication, Latvijas Pasts has organised a postcard sending campaign in the social networks for the seventh time now. Any user of Facebook and Twitter could log in with their account on the website http://www.nosutipastkarti.lv/ and select three postcards for sending free of charge in order to greet their mothers, grandmothers, aunts or girlfriends on Mother’s Day. The properly completed postcards will be delivered to the addressees within Latvia by Mother’s Day, the 14th of May.

Most postcards will travel to Riga, Valmiera, Tukums, Cēsis and Ventspils, and the most popular recipients’ names are Inese, Dace, Anita, Iveta and Inga. The vast majority of the postcard senders used their Facebook account to log in on http://www.nosutipastkarti.lv/ in order to send a postcard.

The Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign is the first and still most popular of the social network campaigns established by Latvijas Pasts; it has been held since 2011. The first postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts on Mother’s Day in 2011 saw the participation of 4,867 Twitter users who filled in about 6,500 postcards. A total of 30,000 postcards were sent in 2016.
