Holders of the names Jānis and Andris receive most Father’s Day greetings. On the 9th of September special photo postcards to dads can be sent from Vērmanes Garden!

Most greetings during the Father’s Day postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts and the Latvian parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv have been sent to unnamed fathers followed by those called Jānis and Andris. The biggest share of the greetings will travel to dads in Riga, Valmiera and Ventspils. A total of approximately 16,000 Father’s Day postcards will be delivered to addressees throughout Latvia. On Saturday, the 9th of September 2017, there will be also an opportunity to send photo postcards with a special dedication to dads from the Latvijas Pasts wall during the Father’s Day Festival in Vērmanes Garden, Riga.

Within the third Father’s Day postcard sending campaign where anyone has had an opportunity to send a free postcard to their dads, granddads or godfathers using their account on the social networks Facebook or Twitter, most greetings will travel to dads in Riga, Valmiera, Ventspils, Liepāja and Cēsis regions: 629 postcards will be delivered to dads in Riga, 253 – in Valmiera, 218 – in Ventspils, 216 – in Liepāja and 204 – in Cēsis. A total of more than 16,000 Father’s Day greeting postcards have been sent within the campaign.

Facebook users have been the most active when greeting their fathers within the postcard sending campaign: 89% of those interested have logged in from this network to send the postcards, compared to 11% who have logged in from Twitter. Mobile devices for sending the postcards have been used in 70% of cases.

There is also an opportunity to send a unique picture to one’s dad from the special Latvijas Pasts photo wall during the Father’s Day Festival held by Mammamuntetiem.lv in Vērmanes Garden, Riga on Saturday, the 9th of September. The idea of the photo wall is dedicated to dads as teachers, who can teach us both practical and educational things, as well as simply interesting things. Latvijas Pasts will create a special photo postcard from the photo that you take and upload on the website http://www.nosutipastkarti.lv/, and will send it to the addressees with accurate postal addresses within Latvia free of charge. Pictures for sending may be uploaded on both the 9th and the 10th of September.

To promote the tradition of sending postcards among the audience using mainly the options offered by the modern technology in the Internet environment for everyday communication, Latvijas Pasts holds regular campaigns on social networks, encouraging everyone to send original postcards on various holidays and events. Traditionally, Latvijas Pasts sends out most greetings during the Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign, although the Father’s Day is also gaining popularity in Latvian society.
