Additional staff will work in 40 post offices of Latvijas Pasts to provide faster services in December; opening hours extended in 25 post offices

In December, which is the busiest time for postal establishments throughout the world, Latvijas Pasts has increased the number of the post offices where additional staff has been brought on for delivery of items and the so-called fast pick-up counters have been set up for more efficient customer service. Starting from the 1st of December they will operate in the 40 biggest and most frequently visited post offices in Riga, Pierīga (Greater Riga area), Kurzeme, Latgale, Vidzeme and Zemgale. Furthermore, Saturday opening hours of 25 post offices in Riga, Kurzeme, Zemgale and Latgale has been extended.

Starting from the 1st of December fast pick-up counters have been operating in the post offices in Riga, Alūksne, Bauska, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Dobele, Gulbene, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Kauguri, Liepāja, Madona, Ogre, Rēzekne, Salaspils and Valmiera, ensuring faster delivery of items in a total of 40 post offices. It is planned that fast pick-up counters will operate until the end of the year.

Using the fast pick-up counters, where no other services are available during the hours with the biggest influx of customers every workday, it is possible to receive registered letters, small packets and parcels not requiring the payment of the customs duty or cash-on-delivery charges.

A detailed list of the post offices with fast pick-up counters for the delivery of items and the opening hours of those counters is available here.

In order to improve the customers’ convenience, opening hours in the busiest post offices in Riga, Kurzeme, Latgale and Zemgale have been changed until the 30th of December, primarily extending their Saturday working time by a few hours. Since the 1st of December the Saturday opening hours have been extended by two hours in five post offices in Kurzeme, eight post offices in Latgale and nine post offices in Zemgale. Meanwhile Riga post offices No. 15, No. 21 and No. 82, will work one hour longer every workday starting from the 4th of December.
