67 post offices offer the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely using a mobile app

In order to save the waiting time for customers in the post offices, Latvijas Pasts is implementing a project aimed at introducing a customer flow management system that not only coordinates the provision of services on the spot in the post offices, but also allows the customers to apply for them remotely using the mobile app on their smartphones. Now it is possible to apply for services remotely in 67 post offices both in Riga and in Latvian regions, and this option significantly improves the receipt of services. This is especially important during the busy period at the end of the year, when the volume of postal items and transactions in the post offices increases several times.

The opportunity to apply for postal services remotely is offered in the 67 Latvijas Pasts post offices equipped with the multifunctional In-Out customer flow management system. 34 of these post offices are located in Riga and 33 are situated in other Latvian cities: Aizkraukle, Alūksne, Bauska, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Dobele, Gulbene, Ikšķile, Kuldīga, Kraslava, Liepāja, Limbaži, Ludza, Madona, Preiļi, Rēzekne, Saldus, Sigulda, Smiltene, Talsi, Tukums, Valka, Valmiera and Ventspils.

The remote application service is available on both iOS and Android devices, and in order to use it the Latvijas Pasts mobile app must be downloaded.  When selecting the section Pasta nodaļas (Post offices), the post offices where the function is available are marked with a symbol of a ticket.

Choosing a particular post office, it is possible to apply for the necessary service: postal services, receipt of items, a financial transaction, services for business customers (legal entities) or services for young parents (pregnant women and parents who visit the post office with children until the age of seven years), who are granted a fast track priority service. Opposite each service there is an indication of the number of customers who also want to use the particular service, which makes it possible to predict the waiting time.

The mobile app shows a reminder at the moment when there are three previous customers remaining in the queue, and it shows a notification when the customer’s turn in the queue has come up, also specifying the servicing counter in the particular post office where the service will be provided.

The Latvijas Pasts mobile app also allows for tracking a registered item and finding the nearest post office as well as its address, opening hours and postcode.

The equipping of Latvijas Pasts with modern customer flow management systems is also planned in 2018, expanding the number of post offices, where it is possible to apply for services remotely.

The updated list of the post offices offering the opportunity to apply for services remotely is available here.
