Best postmen and post office operators of 2017 according to customers’ ratings have been named

The most reliable, helpful and knowledgeable Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators of each Latvian region have been selected in the customers’ voting as part of the contest Mans Pastnieks 2017 (My Postman 2017) organised by the company. A total of 1,339 Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators have been proposed for either of the nominations and 7,000 customers’ questionnaires have been received for them. The reviews that have been sent in highlight the essential role of the postal workers in ensuring the daily living needs of many customers.

Latvijas Pasts employs approximately 3,000 postmen and post office workers, who serve the customers in over 600 post offices throughout Latvia every day. The best postman and post office operator have been selected in each Latvian region – Kurzeme, Latgale, Vidzeme, Zemgale and Riga. Gratitude has been expressed through the customers’ questionnaires to almost half of these employees, rating 1,339 postmen and post office operators as the best professionals of the postal sector.

The contest My Postman 2017 has received a high response from people this year too: 7,000 customers’ questionnaires have been sent in, of which more than 1,600 have been completed online using the website of Latvijas Pasts.

Based on the customers’ opinion, the following employees have been chosen as the best in the postmen competition: Ineta Voiciša from Rugāji post office, Rugāji Municipality in Latgale region, Liene Balode from Jaunpils post office, Jaunpils Municipality in Kurzeme region, Rudīte Eglīte from Skulte post office, Limbaži Municipality in Vidzeme region, Valija Skadiņa from Ērberģe post office, Nereta Municipality in Zemgale region and Iveta Silkalne from Riga post office No. 6 in Riga region.

In turn, the title of the best post office operator, as voted by the customers, has been awarded to: Anna Lucijanova from Rēzekne post office No. 1 in Latgale region, Kristīne Ķēniņa from Kandava post office in Kurzeme region, Līga Rakecka from Rūjiena post office in Vidzeme region, Anita Lazovska from Penkule post office, Dobele Municipality in Zemgale region and Inga Puķīte from Post Centre Sakta in Riga.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, acknowledges that the annual contest My Postman helps the company to strengthen the prestige of the occupations of the postal workers and recognise the value of each employee: “The biggest thanks go to our pride – the best employees of Latvijas Pasts, as well as to all the customers who took the time to express their appreciation. Many questionnaires show satisfaction, allow us to look at our work from the outside and motivate us to make even greater efforts!”

The postmen and post office operators with the highest assessment rates given by the customers will receive valuable prizes from Latvijas Pasts and will be invited to a special award ceremony with Uldis Augulis, Minister for Transport.

In their questionnaires the customers have emphasised the professional abilities of the postal workers, such as helpfulness, communication skills, courtesy, accuracy, and knowledgeability. The personal qualities of the employees are praised in particular: a postman in rural areas is often seen as the only link with the outside world who delivers letters and press obtained by subscription also to the most remote farmsteads and provides various other postal services.

This was the seventh time that Latvijas Pasts called on the residents to name the best postman and post office operator. The questionnaires for the contest My Postman 2017 were distributed along with the Subscription Catalogue of Latvijas Pasts in early October 2017. The questionnaires could also be filled in and submitted online: http://anketa.pasts.lv/.
