Environment improvements in post offices in 2018: bicycle racks, children’s corners and opportunity to apply for services remotely

Promoting customer convenience and creating a friendlier environment for visitors of the post offices, Latvijas Pasts plans to make improvements in several dozens of post offices across the country in 2018, setting up original design children’s corners made of Latvian-produced timber and installing specially tailored bicycle racks. In addition, it is planned to fit 19 more post offices with the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely through the Latvijas Pasts mobile app, bringing the total number of post offices equipped with this system to 86 post offices.

Continuing the project of upgrading the post offices that was commenced in 2017, the new bicycle racks based on the recommendations of bicycling experts and consultations with the Latvian Cycling Association are planned to be installed near more than ten post offices this year. These are tall bicycle racks which are considered to be safer and more comfortable for bikers and which are produced of stainless steel of special design: a stylised shipping envelope. Since the beginning of spring, such racks have been installed near Riga post office No. 4 at 2 Satiksmes Street, post centre Jelgava at 2b Katoļu Street, Ogre post office No. 1 at 38 Brīvības Street and Valmiera post office No. 1 at 34 Rīgas Street. Bicycle racks will be placed near a number of other post offices in Riga, as well as in Balvi, Bauska, Cēsis and Daugavpils.

Fitting of the post offices with special style children’s corners will also continue in 2018 as part of the project of establishing new parents-friendly post offices. The children’s corners feature the Latvijas Pasts item exchange route in the format of the map of Latvia or offer postcards for colouring. The corners are made of timber produced in Latvia, using eco-friendly paints in the finish. The children’s corners are expected to be set up in several post offices in Riga and Bauska, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Dobele, Gulbene, Jēkabpils, Liepāja, Madona, Rēzekne and Tukums this year.

The customer flow management system In-Out will be gradually introduced in 19 more post offices starting from June 2018. This system not only regulates the customer movement in post offices, but also allows the customers to apply for services remotely using the Latvijas Pasts mobile app. This additional equipment will be installed in the post offices in Riga, Ādaži, Baldone, Balvi, Jūrmala, Ķekava, Liepāja, Līvāni, Olaine and Salaspils. Thus, the total number of post offices so equipped will already amount to 86 offices in 2018.

After assessing the customer flow in its post offices, in 2017 Latvijas Pasts launched a number of projects aimed at promoting a more favourable environment for visitors, which includes both custom tailored bicycle racks and specially designed children’s corners.

In turn, in order to improve the speed and quality of service in post offices, during the past years 67 post offices have been equipped with the modern and multifunctional customer flow management system In-Out, one of the additional advantages of which is the opportunity to apply for postal services remotely through the Latvijas Pasts mobile app. The above-mentioned projects are continued this year, adding to the number of well-equipped post offices throughout Latvia.
