Inese, Dace and Anita are still the most popular names of mothers to whom Mother’s Day postcards are sent

A total of 40,000 postcards will travel to mums across Latvia free of charge within the Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign organised by Latvijas Pasts for the eighth time, and this is by 4,000 postcards more than during the campaign of 2017. Just like a year ago, the most popular names of mums to whom the biggest number of postcards will be sent are Inese, Dace and Anita. Most postcards outside of the capital city Riga will travel to Valmiera, Kuldīga and Ventspils.

With the approach of Mother’s Day, Latvijas Pasts traditionally invited users of social networks to greet their mothers, grandmothers, girlfriends, aunts or godmothers by sending special design postcards free of charge.  Latvijas Pasts will deliver the postcards that have been accurately completed on the website www.nosutipastkarti.lv to the specified addresses within Latvia before the holiday, the 13th of May.

Most greetings are addressed to the women called Inese, to whom 907 Mother’s Day postcards will be sent. 833 postcards will travel to Daces and 806 – to Anitas. Changes in the top 10 of the most greeted mums’ names compared to 2017 have taken place from the fourth to the seventh place. In 2017 the fourth most greeted mum’s name was Iveta, followed by Inga, Sandra and Ilze, while the names mentioned in this year’s campaign have switched places in the following order: Inga, Iveta, Ilze and Sandra. Līga and Inta are closing the top 10 of the names of the mums most greeted with postcards.

Geographically, apart from Riga, most postcards, just like last year, will travel to mothers in Valmiera, which, unlike in 2017, is followed not by Tukums but Kuldīga, while the third location where most mums are greeted this year is Ventspils. The fourth place is held by Tukums, followed by Liepāja, Cēsis, Bauska, Saldus, Jelgava and Talsi.

93% of visitors of the website www.nosutipastkarti.lv during the campaign were from Latvia and 7% were from other countries.

The Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign is the first of the social network campaigns established by Latvijas Pasts, and it has been held since 2011. Interest in this campaign is very high, and it is growing every year. The first Mother’s Day postcard sending campaign held by Latvijas Pasts in 2011 saw the participation of 4,867 Twitter users who filled in about 6,500 postcards. In 2017 as many as 36,000 postcards were sent.
