Post centre Bauska – the second post office friendly for new parents outside the capital city

Creating a more convenient environment for visitors in post offices, Latvijas Pasts continues to implement the concept of post offices that are friendly for new parents: the second post office outside the capital city will soon be opened in Bauska. By the end of 2018 another 13 post offices throughout the municipalities of Latvia will be transformed into new-parents-friendly post offices. The opening of the new-parents-friendly post office at the post centre Bauska, 9a Slimnīcas Street is scheduled at 11 AM on Friday, the 31st of August 2018. The Minister for Transport Uldis Augulis, the manager of the parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv Inga Akmentiņa-Smildziņa, the Chairman of the Board at Latvijas Pasts Mārcis Vilcāns and the Chairman of the Bauska Municipality Council Arnolds Jātnieks will take part in the opening ceremony.

The fifth post office of the new-parents-friendly concept will be opened in Bauska, which will be the second post office of this type outside Riga. The idea of the new-parents-friendly post office is the result of cooperation with the parents’ organisation Mammamuntetiem.lv, based on the organisation’s professional recommendations on how to organise the work of post offices in the way that is most favourable for new parents. In addition to the priority service aimed at new parents through the customer flow control system, the post centre Bauska offers a special children’s entertainment corner, and there is a specially designed bicycle rack set up next to the post office.

One of the elements included in the post office of the new-parents-friendly concept is the special service button For new parents (Jaunajiem vecākiem) in the multifunctional In-Out customer flow management system, which not only regulates the customer flow and allows customers to apply for services remotely, but also provides for the priority service for expecting mothers and new parents with children up to the age of seven. New parents can apply for the priority receipt of services in all post offices where the customer flow management system is installed also using the Latvijas Pasts mobile app on their smartphones.

The children’s corner features a special design that informs children about the operation of Latvijas Pasts in an entertaining way, depicting the Latvijas Pasts item exchange route in the format of the map of Latvia as well as offering postcards for colouring. The fittings of the special children’s corner are made of timber produced in Latvia, using eco-friendly paints in the finish.

To implement improvements of the environment, a bicycle rack produced of stainless steel of special design – a stylised shipping envelope has been installed next to the post office. The bicycle rack has been designed based on the recommendations of bicycling experts and consultations with the Latvian Cycling Association.

The new-parents-friendly post office is marked with a special pictogram, which shows that new parents are particularly welcome in this post office.

The post offices of this type have been opened in three locations in the capital city: Riga post office No. 3 in the shopping centre Mols, Riga post office No. 50 in the shopping centre Origo and Riga post office No. 84 at 52 Ūnijas Street, while the fourth post office has been opened outside Riga: at the post centre Jelgava.

The concept of the new-parents-friendly post office is also planned to be gradually implemented in another 13 post offices that are most frequently visited by customers in all Latvian regions: Rīga, Cēsis, Daugavpils, Dobele, Gulbene, Jēkabpils, Liepāja, Madona, Rēzekne and Tukums.
