Some post offices in shopping centres will be open on the public holiday during the visit of Pope Francis

Only some post offices in the shopping centres of the largest Latvian cities will be open on Monday, the 24^th of September 2018, which has been announced as a public holiday in honour of the pastoral visit of His Holiness Pope Francis. The customers who get their benefits and pensions granted by the State Social Insurance Agency (VSAA) delivered to their place of residence through the intermediary of Latvijas Pasts with the expected pay-out date on the 24^th of September will receive the money at an earlier date.  

The day of the pastoral visit of His Holiness Pope Francis to Latvia has been officially declared as a public holiday throughout the country. Postal services on this day will be available in some post offices in the shopping centres of the largest cities. A detailed list of the post offices to be open in Riga, Mārupe, Daugavpils, Jelgava, Jēkabpils and Liepāja and their opening hours is available here. 

The monthly pensions and benefits granted by the VSAA that are to be received by the customers on the 24^th of September will be paid out on the 21^st of September.
