The special Latvijas Pasts post office - the Greeting House - will operate at the Christmas market of the Dome Square this year, too

On the eve of the First Advent the special Latvijas Pasts post office at the Christmas market of the Dome Square - the Greeting House - will open its doors for customers and will operate until the very end of the year. It will be possible to post the festive greetings and presents from the Greeting House by stamping them with the colourful Christmas stamps, and the special Greeting House seal. We encourage the little residents of Latvia to send out a letter to Father Christmas in good time.

The Greeting House at the Christmas market of the Dome Square will be welcoming its customers from the 1st of December 2018 till the end of the year - i.e. the 31st of December. It will operate on Sundays - Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., but on the last day of the year, December 31st, the special post office will be open from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.

A greeting sent from the festive market will be especially warm and hearty to anyone, adorned by the gorgeous Christmas stamps issued by Latvijas Pasts that have been designed by the artist Elita Viliama. The mail can be stamped with a special Greeting House seal and sent to the addressee right from the Dome Square.

One will be able to buy different Christmas postcards, presents, and souvenirs at the Greeting House. It will also be possible to send the presents purchased in the Dome Square market from this special post office, as well as receive information on Latvijas Pasts services. But after December 5, the Greeting House will be selling special stamp sets - one will include the 2018 postage stamps of Latvijas Pasts, the other one - the Christmas stamps and special festivity covers.

Latvijas Pasts specifically urges the little residents of Latvia not to forget to send a letter to Father Christmas; meanwhile, parents are kindly asked to make sure that the correct Father Christmas’ address is indicated on the letter and a stamp with a relevant face value is affixed.

All letters sent by children to Father Christmas will be delivered by Latvijas Pasts to the letter-box of Father Christmas’ office. Whereas if the recipient indicated on the letter is Santa Claus or Grandfather Frost, the item will go to Finland or Russia, respectively. It is essential to indicate the correct address of the Father Christmas' letter-box for the letter to reach him successfully, as well as affix the stamp with a suitable face value. A regular Class A letter to Father Christmas in Latvia can be sent using a stamp with a face value of € 0.50, to Santa Claus in Finland – with a face value of € 0.71 and to Grandfather Frost in Russia – with a face value of € 0.85.
