For quicker customer servicing fast pick-up counters are operating in 41 Latvijas Pasts post offices; extended opening hours in 14 post offices

In December, the busiest time for postal establishments throughout the world, Latvijas Pasts has increased the number of the post offices where additional workers have been brought in for item delivery, and the so-called fast pick-up counters have been set up for more efficient customer service. From the 1st of December, they will operate in the 39 largest and most frequently visited post offices in Riga, Pierīga (Greater Riga area), Kurzeme, Latgale, and Zemgale, but from 15th of December – in two more post offices in Vidzeme. Moreover, the opening hours have been extended in 14 post offices in Riga, Kurzeme, and Zemgale.

From December 1st fast pick-up counters have been operating in post offices in Riga, Bauska, Daugavpils, Dobele, Jelgava, Jēkabpils, Kauguri, Kuldiga, Liepaja, Ogre, Rezekne, Salaspils, Saldus, Talsi, Tukums, and Ventspils, but starting December 15th such counters will also be operating in Limbazi and Priekuli, ensuring faster delivery of items in 41 post offices in total. It is planned that the fast pick-up counters will operate until the end of the year, but in case of necessity, their operational dates will be extended.

By using a fast pick-up counter, where no other services are available during the busiest hours of every weekday, it is possible to receive registered letters, small packets, and parcels not requiring the customs duty or cash-on-delivery payment.

A detailed list of the post offices with the fast pick-up counters for item delivery and the opening hours of these counters is available here.

To enhance customer convenience, opening hours have been changed until December 30th in the busiest post offices in Riga and Kurzeme. In 10 Riga post offices the opening hours have been extended by one hour on weekdays, but three post offices in Kurzeme, and one in Zemgale will be open two hours longer on Saturdays. A detailed list of all post offices with extended opening hours can be seen here.

Analysing the current situation in mail acceptance and delivery, the need for implementing additional changes aimed at improving the customer service in the post offices will also be assessed in the future.
