Strike by the Canadian postal operator Canada Post workers affects the exchange of mail with Canada

Due to the strike by the Canadian postal operator Canada Post workers, which has been going on since the 22^nd of October 2018, the current exchange of mail with this country is substantially limited, according to the information provided by the International Post Corporation to Latvijas Pasts.

As a result of the prolonged strike by the Canadian postal operator Canada Post workers, a number of airlines have imposed a ban on accepting postal items to Canada, while several other airlines have established restrictions on the volume of such items, thus creating substantial barriers to the exchange of mail with Canada. 

Due to these bans and restrictions, postal items to be sent from Latvia to Canada are currently being stored at the Riga Item Processing and Sorting Centre of Latvijas Pasts, and after the ban is lifted they will be sent to the addressees immediately. 

The Canadian postal operator Canada Post apologises for the inconvenience and makes every effort to minimise the impact of the strike on the delivery of postal items.
