Latvijas Pasts urges everyone to be aware of scammers and ignore fraudulent notices sent on behalf of the company

Latvijas Pasts has detected several cases when using the company brand fraudulent operations have been attempted by informing people electronically about a fake lottery and asking to transfer money to win a mobile phone. Latvijas Pasts has not organized any such lottery, nor sent out any information of such content, and for this reason, urges the residents to be cautious of scammers, ignore fraudulent notices and contact the State Police in cases when money has still been transferred. Latvijas Pasts has already informed Cert.lv the Information Technology Security Incident Response Institution and the law enforcement institutions of the situation, thus doing everything possible to avert the spreading of fraudulent notices as quickly as possible.

Latvijas Pasts has not organized any campaigns where money deposits are asked from the customers, nor sent any notices of this type. The information sent out by the scammers has been detected in both Latvian and Russian; it claims that the beneficiary has won a mobile phone and will receive it upon answering a question and depositing a certain amount of money.

Residents who have received these fraudulent notices are urged to inform Latvijas Pasts by writing to the email zino@pasts.lv and indicating the exact manner of where and how the above information has been received. In cases when money, however, has been transferred to the scammers, we urge people to file an application in the State Police.

On its part, Latvijas Pasts has already informed both Cert.lv – the Information Technology Security Incident Response Institution and the State Police of the situation, thus doing everything possible to avert the spreading of fraudulent notices as quickly as possible.
