Best postmen and post office operators of 2018 according to customers’ ratings have been named; a total of over 8,500 questionnaires have been received

The most approachable, communicative and helpful Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators of each Latvian region have been selected in the customers’ voting as part of the contest Mans Pastnieks 2018 (My Postman 2018) organised by the company. A total of 1,686 Latvijas Pasts postmen and post office operators were proposed for either of the nominations and 8,556 residents’ questionnaires were received for them: this year almost half of the questionnaires were filled in online using the website of Latvijas Pasts. In the questionnaires the customers emphasised both the professional abilities of the employees and their human qualities.

In terms of the number of employees Latvijas Pasts is the fifth largest company in Latvia, employing a total of almost 4,000 people. The largest group of the employees – about 3,000 people – are postmen and post office staff who are the biggest asset of the company: thanks to them thousands of Latvian residents receive postal items even in the most remote areas of the country every day.

This year customer activity in assessing postal employees was particularly high: a total of 8,556 customer questionnaires were received within the contest My Postman 2018, of which almost half – more than 4,000 questionnaires – were filled in online through the website of Latvijas Pasts.

Based on the customers’ opinion, the following employees have been chosen as the best ones in the postmen competition: Liene Cimbaļuka from Mērdzene post office, Kārsava Municipality in Latgale region, Skaidrīte Klismete from Sabile post office, Talsi Municipality in Kurzeme region, Tamāra Ļeonova from Rauna post office in Vidzeme region, Aelita Ikvila from Nākotne post office, Jelgava Municipality in Zemgale region and Ilze Kužuma from Riga post office No. 6 in Riga region.

In turn, the title of the best post office operator, as voted by the customers, has been awarded to: Marija Čerņavska from Rēzekne post office No. 4 in Latgale region, Gita Ziemele from Cīrava post office, Aizpute Municipality in Kurzeme region, Iveta Ozdoba from Madona post office in Vidzeme region, Svetlana Štrobindere from Skaistkalne post office, Vecumnieki Municipality in Zemgale region and Olga Fedoruka from Jaunolaine post office, Olaine Municipality in Riga region.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, is pleased with the high level of the customers’ responsiveness: “This year we have received the biggest number of votes so far, and this clearly shows that the work carried out by our postmen and postal operators has a truly high value in the eyes of residents. We say thank you to our employees for their dedicated and professional work and to every sender of the questionnaire for the time spent naming the best postal employee!”

In their questionnaires the residents have highlighted the professional skills of the postal workers, such as responsibility towards the work carried out, communication skills, helpfulness, accuracy and knowledgeability. At the same time they have also specifically emphasised human qualities, as a postman is often the major or even the only link with the outside world for isolated farmsteads in rural areas.

The postmen and post office operators with the highest assessment rates given by the customers will receive valuable prizes from Latvijas Pasts and will be presented their awards at special annual reporting events in each region.

This was the eighth time that Latvijas Pasts called on residents to assess the best postman and post office operator of each region, highlighting their professional abilities and saying thank you for their good work. At the beginning of October the questionnaires for the contest My Postman 2018 were sent out together with the Subscription Catalogue of Latvijas Pasts, and it was also possible to fill them in and submit them online at http://anketa.pasts.lv/
