A new feature in Latvijas Pasts mobile app: an opportunity to remotely redirect a registered item to another address

Ensuring more accessible postal services and modern possibilities for item delivery, Latvijas Pasts has started offering redirection of registered – signed for or insured – postal items to another address using the mobile app of Latvijas Pasts.

Using this service, customers – both private persons and legal entities – will be able to redirect any registered – signed for or insured – postal item from their mobile smart device to another destination of their choice within the Republic of Latvia by changing the original delivery address indicated on the item. It will be possible to remotely redirect items to any Latvijas Pasts post office throughout the country, to another delivery address, such as an office location, or to one of the 50 Circle-K fuel stations with which Latvijas Pasts has concluded a contract for delivery of items. This means that customers can also receive their items in the most efficient way for them – by special delivery at work or at home, at a post office or stopping by at Circle-K on their way.

“Taking into account the complexity of international post item logistics, item redirection is considered to be a highly challenging project, but we know that it is very necessary and useful for our customers. An important aspect here is not only redirection of an item, but also the possibility to choose the most convenient way of delivery at the same time. When ordering goods in foreign online stores, it is often not known exactly how the item will be delivered – to the post office, to the place of residence by special delivery or to the letter-box. With our new service, the customer will be the one to dictate the way of delivery: by re-routing the item to his or her preferred home or office delivery address, the item will be brought by a courier, while by choosing a particular post office or fuel station, the customer will know that the item will be waiting for him or her there,” Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out.

The new solution of Latvijas Pasts mobile app will allow the customer to quickly and easily redirect postal items addressed to him or her to another address within the Republic of Latvia, without having to draw up an application and submit it to the post office. To receive the redirection service, the customer must use the feature Pārvirzīt sūtījumu (Redirect item) in the mobile app of Latvijas Pasts, specifying his or her exact and functioning mobile phone number and the registered postal item number, consisting of a 13-digit code with two letters at the beginning and at the end and nine digits in the middle, for example, AB123456789CD.

The customer may pay for the redirection service via his or her online bank right in the mobile app. As a way of promoting the recognition of the new service, Latvijas Pasts will redirect the first 1,500 registered postal items that customers wish to receive at another address free of charge.
