After having analysed the clients’ habits and the demand for post services, the opening hours are changed as from the 2nd September 2019 at Post Offices No. 1, 6, 17, 39 and 55 in Riga and Post Offices at Kauguri, Saulkrasti and Sigulda. The service will be available to clients for one hour longer on several business days, thus providing convenient service of delivery to clients who are working, however, Saturdays will be days-off. Depending on the demand in November and December, considering the holiday season, when the flow of deliveries is traditionally more intense, the possibility of re-open these offices on Saturdays or to extend the opening hours on Saturdays will be considered.
The change of the opening hours at Post Offices No. 1, 6, 17, 39 and 55 in Riga and at Kauguri, Saulkrasti and Sigulda is related to the clients’ habits of use of post services and they indicate that in the above offices there are considerably more clients on business days than on Saturdays when the number of clients and the turnover there decreases by approximately 70–80% in comparison to business days. Thus, the work of these offices is not profitable and does not correspond to the demand which, according to the above data, in most cases is focused on use of the service on business days at these offices.
Therefore, as from the 2nd September, Riga Post Office No. 1 at 4 Tallinas Street, Riga Post Office No. 6 at 310 Brīvības gatve and Riga Post Office No. 39 at 211 Brīvības gatve will provide post service from 8:00 to 20:00 on Monday and Friday and from 8:00 to 19:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Riga Post Office No. 55 at 12 Cementa Street and Kauguri Post Office at 48 Skolas Street will provide post service from 8:00 to 20:00 on business days; Saulkrasti Post Office at 6a Ainažu Street will be open from 8:00 to 18:00 on Monday and Thursday, from 8:00 to 16:00 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and from 8:00 to 15:00 on Fridays; the new opening hours of Sigulda Post Office at 2 Pils Street: Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 18:00 and on Saturday from 9:00 to 13:00. Riga Post Office No. 17 at 17 Ieriķu Street, at t/c Domina, will provide post service from 10:00 to 21:00 from Monday to Friday, from 10:00 to 18:00 on Saturday and from 10:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
By monitoring the demand for services in November and December when the holiday period starts and when both the number of parcels and the use of postal services and the number of clients traditionally increases, the decision will be taken on the necessity to re-open post offices or extend the opening hours on Saturdays.
