By the end of 2019 payment cards will be accepted for payment in all Latvijas Pasts post offices
To improve the functionality and accessibility of postal services, Latvijas Pasts is implementing the introduction of payment card terminals of the latest generation in all post offices. Currently payment cards can be used for payment in 354 post offices at 570 customer checkout points, and by November 2019 it is planned to install the terminals at the remaining workplaces, thus equipping a total of 600 workplaces in all of more than 370 post offices.

Currently 570 workplaces are already equipped with the payment card terminals of the latest generation, and it is planned to fully equip 600 workplaces in more than 370 post offices by November 2019. The process of ensuring availability of payment by card in all Latvijas Pasts post offices began along with the already completed project of technological modernisation of the postal network by introducing modern cash register systems and electronic signature devices for the receipt of registered items.

Mārcis Vilcāns, Chairman of the Board of Latvijas Pasts, points out: “In our opinion, the most important thing is the fact that equipping post offices with the terminals of the latest generation, which also allow for payment by contactless payment cards, improves service availability and speeds up the customer service not only in cities, but also in rural areas. It will be possible to use payment cards to make payments in absolutely all Latvijas Pasts post offices – we have already received positive feedback from our customers in regional areas, as we have prioritised their needs and demand.”

The new payment card terminals are provided in cooperation with the Joint Stock Company Banka Citadele

In 2019 Latvijas Pasts continues to develop its core business activities, with a specific focus on increasing profitability and quality, improving work organisation, automating processes and digitisation.
