The nearby Riga post office No. 83 will take over the service of customers in the area of Riga post office No. 7 from the 28th of October 2019
As a result of the assessment of the trends in using the postal services and the number of the post offices in the specific areas of Riga City, the nearby Riga post office No. 83, which is more accessible to customers and has longer working hours on weekdays, will start servicing the customers of Riga post office No. 7. On the 25th of October Riga post office No. 7 will be open until 1 PM. Postal services for customers in this area are also available at the nearby Riga post office No. 55, and customers can also use Circle K fuel stations located in the neighbourhood to collect their postal items.
 
The analysis of the operation of Riga post office No. 7 shows that the number of customers in this office at 60 Slokas Street is steadily decreasing, with the demand for services and the turnover dropping significantly, causing Latvijas Pasts an average monthly loss of more than 5,800 euro. Therefore, based on the assessment of the patterns of using the postal services in this area, a decision has been made according to which the nearby Riga post office No. 83 at 1a Dzirciema Street will take over the functions of Riga post office No. 7 from the 28th of October. On the 25th of October Riga post office No. 7 will be open until 1 PM. Most of the employees of the current Riga post office No. 7 will continue to work in other Riga post offices.
 
Items addressed to the customers in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 7 can be received in the future in Riga post office No. 83, but any other postal services are also available in Riga post office No. 55 located in the neighbourhood at 12 Cementa Street. In addition, customers may conveniently collect their postal items from Circle K fuel stations at 40 Dzirciema Street and 5a Jūrmalas gatve situated not far away from the current post office No. 7. Riga post office No. 83 is easily accessible to customers as it can be reached using a wide range of public transport: tram 1, trolleybuses 9 and 25, buses 21, 38, 39, 46 and 54 or minibuses 237, 241, 244 and 338, as well as by private vehicles, as there is free parking next to the post office. Moreover, the post office is open from Monday to Friday one hour longer than Riga post office No. 7 – from 8 AM to 8 PM, allowing all working customers to receive services.
 
The residents of the capital Riga may also receive the necessary postal services directly from a postman at their place of residence if it is difficult for them to get to the post office. The postman can provide the following services at the customer’s place of residence: receipt of money orders and pensions, payment of utility bills and other bills, purchase of stamps and envelopes, dispatch of postcards and letters, press subscriptions, applying for home delivery of items, etc.  
 
The number and locations of the post offices in Riga are determined by the Decision of the Public Utilities Commission’s Council On the Universal Postal Service Obligations, which stipulates that Latvijas Pasts must provide at least 30 permanent post offices in Riga. Latvijas Pasts complies with these conditions by providing postal services in 40 post offices.
 
Precise information on the receipt of postal services in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 7 after the 28th of October will be placed in the letter-box of each customer residing in this area starting from the 30th of September.
