The modern Riga post office No. 10 will take over the customer service in the area of Riga post office No. 45 from the 15th of November 2019

As a result of the assessment of the trends in using the postal services and the number of the post offices in the specific areas of Riga City, the nearby Riga post office No. 10 of modern concept is taking over the servicing of the customers of Riga post office No. 45 from the 15^th of November 2019. To ensure a smooth move, on the 14^th of November Riga post office No. 45 will be open until 2 PM. The customers in this area can also use the Circle K fuel station located in the neighbourhood at 4 Muitas Street to collect their postal items. The postal code of the customers from the area serviced by Riga post office No. 45 will remain unchanged: LV-1045.

The analysis of the operation of Riga post office No. 45 has shown that the number of customers in this post office at 5 Alūksnes Street is decreasing, with the demand for services and the turnover dropping significantly. Therefore, based on the assessment of the patterns of using the postal services in this area, a decision has been made according to which the nearby Riga post office No. 10 at 41/43 Elizabetes Street will take over the functions of Riga post office No. 45 from the 15th of November. On the 14^th of November Riga post office No. 45 will be open until 2 PM to ensure the transfer of all functions to Riga post office No. 10. Most of the employees of the current Riga post office No. 45 will continue to work in other Riga post offices. 

In the future the customers in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 45 will be able to receive their postal items in Riga post office No. 10. In addition, the customers may conveniently collect their items from the Circle K fuel station at 4 Muitas Street situated not far away from the current post office No. 45. In turn, other postal services are also available in any post office, as only the collection of postal items is linked to a specific area. 

Riga post office No. 10 can be visited by using the public transport – tram 5 and trolleybus 19 – or by bicycle, which is an efficient mode of transportation in the urban environment nowadays, as there is a special tall bicycle rack for parking ten bicycles near the post office. Riga post office No. 10 is the first Latvijas Pasts post office of a modern concept, ensuring the provision of high quality modern standards in regard to customer service, sales of goods and services, as well as exterior. Moreover, there is no analogue in Latvia to the bicycle rack next to the post office: it is unique in that it is located on the carriageway of the road, without taking up the area intended for pedestrians.  

The post office is open to customers from 8 AM to 8 PM Monday to Friday, allowing all working customers to receive services. During the busiest period of the year, from the 23^rd of November 2019 to the 19^th of January 2020 Riga post office No. 10 will also be open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 3 PM. 

The residents of the capital Riga may also receive the necessary postal services directly from a postman at their place of residence if it is difficult for them to get to the post office. The postman can provide the following services at the customer’s place of residence: receipt of money orders and pensions, payment of utility bills and other bills, purchase of stamps and envelopes, dispatch of postcards and letters, press subscriptions, applying for home delivery of items, etc.  

The number and locations of the post offices in Riga are determined by the Decision of the Public Utilities Commission’s Council On the Universal Postal Service Obligations, which stipulates that Latvijas Pasts must provide at least 30 permanent post offices in Riga. Latvijas Pasts complies with these conditions by providing postal services in 40 post offices.

Precise information on the receipt of postal services in the area serviced by Riga post office No. 45 after the 15^th of November will be placed in the letter-box of each customer residing in this area starting from the 17^th of October.
