Exchange of mail with Finland is hindered due to the strike by Finnish postal workers from the 11th to the 24th of November

Due to the strike by workers of the Finnish postal operator Posti, which will be held from the 11th to the 24th of November 2019, a full embargo on airmail items to and from Finland has been imposed for two weeks, according to the information provided by the International Post Corporation. Surface exchange of mail with Finland will remain in place during this period, but there is a warning of possible restrictions.

As a result of the two-week strike declared by Finnish postal workers, the postal operator of that country Posti has imposed a ban on accepting airmail items to and from Finland from the 11th to the 24th of November. At the same time the exchange of postal items by surface will continue, but some restrictions are possible. Therefore the exchange of postal items with Finland during this period will be hindered.

Due to the embargo, from the 11th of November postal items addressed from Latvia to Finland will be accepted at Latvijas Pasts and, as far as possible, according to the instructions of the Finnish postal operator, will be directed to that country by land routes; however, restrictions on this mode of transport and longer delivery should be taken into consideration.

The Finnish postal operator Posti apologises for the inconvenience caused.
